What's so great about Seven7?

Ok, in the past week, I have seen two people (in consecutive days none the less) wearing these. The first lady was a waitress, and idk if she thought she was wearing SFAM or she knew they were Seven7, but I still felt kinda bad for her but restrained my laughter (somewhat).

The second person is kinda confusing. This girl wears lots of premium (SFAM, Paige, Joes, etc) and just all around good looking, well made cute clothes to school like everyday. So color me shocked when I see her wearing jeans that were none other than...Seven7! I had to do a double take, but my first assessment was correct.

So, is Seven7 like taking over the world or were these just two isolated incidents...I hope it was the latter :twitch:shake

I have never spotted anyone wearing those and I'm
not surprised being the racks at TJ's & Marshall's
are almost always overflowing w/ 'em.

I have to say that I myself would be pretty taken
aback as well if I spotted someone wearing Seven7
who's normally known to sport premium. :IDK

So "What's so good about seven7" you ask?

NOTHING....

AT ALL.

I have seen a LOT of plus size women wearing them.
An awful lot.
Some regular size women too.

around campus i see a lot of seven7 and american eagle. express carries them i believe. eh if i didnt have my grudges against non premium denim i wouldnt be opposed to wearing them. but once you go premium, you cant go back!

edit: under rae

^^I think the problem lies within the fact that a lot of people think seven7 = 7fam and then walk around with this swagger like they're wearing these amazing $200 jeans when they're not. (nevermind all the people who list seven7s as sfam on ebay!)

My mom is a lane bryant regular and from what I remember, the plus size ones there seemed to be made a bit better than the regular size ones, which IMO are uniformly fugly (that could be bc LB and Express and whoever else sold them are under the jurisdiction of the Limited, and seven7 itself isn't)

This topic really disappoints me a bit. Honestly people, "Suppressing laughter", shock and awe? This is the sort of elitism that consistently baffles me about people, particularly in regards to something as trivial as the pair of jeans one chooses to wear. The subjectivity of the matter is predominant, different things suffice for different individuals. I thought we learned that one in grammar school.

The fact that one would internally mock or look disdainfully or otherwise condescendingly upon someone for their choice in denim (provided it's authentic)...with all due respect, that's a bit pathetic. :shake

The "suppressing laughter" thing didn't seem like elitism to me. I've been in situations like that myself. For example, I actually saw someone in my school wearing bape jeans. It was all I could do not to collapse and laugh hysterically on the spot. Not because of some brand elitism I have, but because he actually spent $300 on an ordinary, rather cheap looking, pair of jeans just because they had purple gorillas on the pockets. I'm not laughing at the clothes, but more at the fact that there's someone out there so obsessed with labels/image that they would spend $300 on such a crappy item

While seven jeans don't look ridiculous like bape, lets be realistic here. There's no way the name was not an attempt to cash in on SFAM's reputation. They don't look terrible, but I wasn't impressed with what I saw, its not very close to the real thing. So yeah, I do think its kind of funny when I see someone in expensive jeans that only sound premium. Who's really label obsessed here, the person who bought their SFAM on ebay for $70 because they look good and were cheap, or the person who spent $100 on crappy looking jeans because they thought seven was a luxury brand?

My reaction on seeing a girl in seven for the first time was identical to the OP's. I thought it was kind of funny, but I also felt sorry for a little because I wasn't sure if she really knew what she bought

^ Actually 7seven existed before 7FAM.

I think it's just personal taste. I've seen people wear 7seven and looked good. I don't think I would ever wear them like I would never carry a Coach bag. It's not because they are bad, more because they're not my cup of tea.

i see quite a few Seven7s at my school!
in fact, my room mate has 2 pairs

i'm not sure if people really know the difference..
i know that my room mate doesn't, but i don't have the heart to tell her :(

EDIT: it's so late for me over here and i feel mentally impaired
i could not make it through that blurb that you just posted, Phishphood
too many 7s, Sevens, Seven7s :bigeyes

I see a lot of people who wear Seven7 and I always wonder if they think it's 7FAM. But one of my good friends actually prefers the fit of Seven7 to that of 7FAM, so I would never dream of criticizing that preference of hers.

For whatever reason, this argument reminds me of one that happened awhile ago, regarding whether or not it's "ok" to donate fake jeans. Someone had said something like "Why should homeless people have to wear fakes?" My personal feeling is that as long as there are no pretentions that the jeans are authentic, which can be solved by marking "fake" on the tags, who am I to judge what needy people want to wear? The same feelings progress up socioeconomic levels. Some people live comfortably but still can't afford to wear 7FAM and TR and the like. If they want to wear Seven7, which for non-premium has a fairly decent fit, I won't have any part of mocking that.

So though I wonder if people know the difference, and though it peeves me to no end that ebay sellers confuse the two, I have nothing against the brand.

I used to own a pair of Seven7's. I thought they were 7FAM. lol. They actually fit me really well - the quality and wash were definitely sub-par though. I see a ton of Seven7's around here, and most people think they are 7FAM. Whatever, I don't think much of it. The only time I notice people's jeans are when they are premium, or fake premium. Or just fucking atrocious. Ha.

I had a pair of seven jeans, and I didn't know they were any different than sfam before I knew anything about premium denim. I remember they fit really good, and I liked them a lot so I can see why someone would wear them. I'm not above someone because I wear true religion and they're not below me because they don't.

I own 2 pair of 7sevens. Over here they aren't real cheap either, $100 + :shake
I have 2 pair, and one pair is one of my favourites. :love
had them for years, and because it is quite lightweight I get to wear them all seasons.
Even with my TR and other brands, I still like wearing them :thumbsup
I just wish my Levi's hadn't fallen apart :rofl

You know, like another post, I'm wondering this.
We have all these responses to the OP, but they have yet to come back to discuss and weigh in and add to what they originally said.
Personally, I don't think it's right for you to come, make such blanket statements that raise eyebrows, and then when you get responses to your thread to not come back and continue the discussion.

I don't know what the case here is, but this "elitism" seriously is ridiculous. I own premium denim, and I own jeans that aren't, and I wear both, and in all reality, what I cover my ass in doesn't matter. I feel like if you take an issue with what I'm wearing you're the one with the problem. I'm comfortable and secure and wear what ever I want, why does that matter to you? After all, in the grand scheme of things, it's just a pair of pants - not the end of the world.

So you're feeling charitable today, are you? :magwink

I don't think most people who own premium own nothing but premium like most of us. I have seen several classmates wear SFAM one day and Lucky the next.
Eh...I have seen quite a few pairs of 7Seven- doesn't really phase me one way or the other, though I think some people think they are the same as SFAM.
I agree with Confurious and Rae - I can't imagine "suppressing laughter" b/c someone was wearing 7Seven - whatever was meant by it, it sounds elitist.

My husband broke out in laughter - real belly laughter - when he saw me in my TR Joey's. He's a Lee and Levi boy, has been all his life - and to him spending $200+ on a pair of jeans is dumb and self-indulgent; and doing it and ending up in flap pockets and giant bitt horseshoes is hysterically funny. It hurt my feelings a bit, but, different strokes - y'know?

I like premium (obviously); but I'm required to wear jeans to a dirty job where I'm surrounded by food and grease. I'm not gonna show up there in my new Paiges. So you might see me on Tuesday in premium denim, and on Wednesday in used Paris Blues. I try to rock whatever I wear, insofar as I can in a chef coat and apron, lol. I think looking good is more about attitude than labels.

It's just what you're used to - or the prejudices you decide to acquire.

^^don't worry about it...I mean, at least I got the impression you weren't making fun of seven7 themselves or people who like seven7 for what it is, just the people who wear seven7 thinking that it's sfam and engaging in denim snobbery accordingly. those people make me :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

#47 ·
Exactly...I wasnt making fun of seven7 (that pair the second girl was wearing was actually pretty cute) or I wasn't trying too. Sorry if it looked like it.

I really don't care what other people wear cause not all people can afford premium or care for premium. What I do care about, which makes me laugh, is when people wear fakes and swear up and down or try to rock them as real jeans, just like those people who sell fakes on eBay or at jeans parties and swear up and down they're authentic.

Oh tell me about it. There's this one prick/head-case in my dorm claims that half his wardrobe is Diesel and Dolce and Gabanna. They're all fake :rofl Pretty sure ALL his Diesel shirts look like those you find on ebay for 18 bucks from Thailand. Of course he denies it and says he got it at Nordies:roll We don't talk fashion anymore.

I think the OP confused laughing at someone acting like HOT SHIT in fakes from someone living their life in jeans that happen to have a similar name...

I understand laughing at fakes but laughing at someone because they are wearing jeans doesn't make sense to me.....
