Just got this message from a buyer: hi, you may not have been aware but per Macy's, these jeans are not authentic. They stated TR does not produce the interior size tag with just the horsehoe on it. I would like to return them please.

Have no idea what they are talking about, can someone please confirm that these are not fake. TIA

"luvapup" is a moderator on this board, and has worked at TR in the past. She would happily confirm the authenticity of this pair if she gets a chance

Department store employees should not be authenticating anything. They don't have the authorization to. And they want to make a sale so they would rather try to get a person to buy from their store rather then telling them their discounted pair of eBay jeans are authentic. And unless that store employee is someone like us here on the forum, that actually studies the differences and the available washes, styles, tags, etc then they aren't going to have a clue what kinds of tags have been made in the past or if an item is truly authentic or not.

The pair in the listing are a beautiful pair of Old Multi Stitch Supers T's in Dark Pony Express Wash. These are not a pair that one can just go and purchase off the store shelf currently, because they are an older pair. And a desirable pair at that. The tags are going to be different on them compared to the pairs that are in retail stores right now.

Your buyer got a fabulous deal too.

^ to add to that sales reps at stores like Macys (or even the True Religion store) are also unreliable because they only work with authentic items at the store. They probably only know about items that have been sold during their own tenure but not prior to that. Unless they have an interest and are putting in time of their own to research fakes to see what they look like compare to authentic items they will have a difficult time to authenticate things. Knowing what an authentic item looks like is a good start but at the same time you need to know what the fakes look like so you can determine what needs to be compared when authenticating. Generally most employees are not putting in extra work to do this.

The jeans are of course authentic.

THe pair pictured is absolutely real and a really nice pair.

WHile I despise looking at the auctions where the seller feels the need to subject any viewer to those ass photos, the jeans are indeed real.

Womens TRs were indeed produced for a long time with just the horseshoe on the size tag, it was one way to determine that the jeans were womens and not mens ( which had a buddha on the inner tag) As years have gone by, they have changed many things on tags, pocket linings, etc etc etc...

These are real jeans indeed.
Go ahead, believe a Macys sales associate that is probably 18 years old working for minimum wage and really has no business or training, or intelligence whatsoever to determine any product authenticity whatsoever.

Seriously.
They do not even know at the TR outlets what is authentic merchandise if someone walks in with something and has a question. Not even most at the managerial level.
