Newborn's body found at recycling center

ESCONDIDO: The body of a newborn baby boy was found on a conveyor belt at a recycling center in Escondido last night, police said.

Employees at Escondido Disposal Inc. on West Washington Avenue found a body part amid cloth and paper recyclables, Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter said.

Police were called at 6:13 p.m. Investigators were searching for any additional evidence.

Carter said the recycling transfer center receives shipments from all over Southern California, so finding out where the baby came from may be difficult.

In California we have drop off centers (Hospitals, Fire Stations, etc.) for people who have newborns and for whatever reason, they can drop the baby off there no questions asked, no legal ramifications. In fact they have been putting up billboards, commercials, local news stories about it and urge people who cannot or do not want their newborn to drop them off at these centers, for the sake of the child. Yet people are still uninformed or stupid to dump their baby somewhere.

Yeah I heard about this.. I believe you are allowed to drop off a newborn baby at ANY hospital? Is it just a California thing? It should really be a national thing.

I don't have or even know any babies.. but Jesus Fucking Christ, man. They found body parts? Like.. not the entire baby? OMG.. makes me sick just thinking about it.

I hope the parents of that baby burn in Hell, forever. Shelley, make sure they do.

I'm pretty positive that you can also drop off your baby anywhere (church,hospital,fire stations..etc) in new york also.

i do think its a national thing...i know for sure in new york you can do the same thing and they wont ask questions. whomever did this deserves to spend the rest of their life in solitary to think about what a horrible animal they are

I only mean't that I struggled to get pregnant, which led to fertility specialists. My son means everything to me. The cost is not an issue, it just makes me think of how badly I wanted a baby and then you read something like this:cry I can't imagine how someone could do this.
