how do I take better pictures..

A good camera definitely helps. Natural lighting is best like outside or near a window on a sunny day. If you have a point and shoot camera, try to take pics without a flash. For taking small details like a rivet, put your camera in macro mode for sharp closeups.
Camera phones are ok too, but try to do it without a flash. Most importantly, make sure the pictures are clear. If it looks blurry to you, it will look blurry to everyone.
