So I tried Im tryin to measure my 7FAM jeans and Im kinda puzzled. They are mens bootcut size 34 waist. I am looking at the guide in the AF mall to help me out but Im not understanding it. When I measure the waist I get it at a length of 18 inches or 36 inch doubled. But that doesnt make sense cuz my jeans should be 16 inches or 34 doubled.

Actual measurements are usually a bit bigger than the stated size on the tag.

Would I have to wash them first before making an accurate measurement?

Usually the "actual" waist size is a couple inches more than the tag size

Since jeans rarely actually sit ON your waist, the 2" difference is for the size variation between your waist and hips...yes, even men's. If the jeans were 2-3 inches higher in the rise, the waist would then be 34" rather than 36".

i'm not quite understanding you though. you say when you measure them you're coming out with 18 or 36 if you mentally double, correct?
but, then you state that they should measure 16 & 34.
my question is, why should they measure 16/34. is it because they're a size 34?

that's normal. the actual waist is always going to measure at least 2 inches more.
