I know it sounds strange, but are there fake frye boots out there and did I buy a pair? I purchased a real pair from frye and then found the "same" style on ebay for 100.00 less so I purchased thinking I would return the ones that cost more. Well comparing the two boots, the leather is completely different, the stamp on the bottom of the boot and even the box is diff. Please see photos and offer opinion. Is this first pair fake?? THANK YOU!!

They fake everything. :(

Hopefully someone can tell you if they are real or not. You should post pictures of the boots as a whole as well as just the close-ups that you have. :)
The pair I think is fake does go on my feet much easier and there is much more room. The pair right from frye I need to tug on and they definitely better leather. Thank you so much.

:IDK i am no expert... just love my Fryes :) i have several pairs of frye in "smoke" all from 6pm or zappos and they do come in different finishes but are named the same color. the ebay pair looks like the "rub off wax" coating, i've heard different stories on the coating. everything from it is a protective coating and meant to be there and to rub it off, to, it is what happens when leather is stored incorrectly  if they were mine i would try getting a dry terry towel and buffing an area of the ebay boots to see what happens with the leather.

ETA: the stamp on the bottom of the ebay boot does look wrong to me.. the back to back "F's" are too skinny.. sorry...

I thought Frye was made in the USA? Are they having them made in Mexico now?

Edit: Nevermind I just noticed that my Frye handbag is made in China. Dammit. These are the womens boots made in the USA.

Sorry!:rofl That is what I got off of their website and it didn't mention any of those styles being made in Mexico. I guess thats better than China.

This is the bag. It is really pretty and well made, even if it is from China. I first saw it at Belk and then found it on Amazon for $100 less.

Frye Harness 15R Charcoal Old Town - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

I started out with the harness 12r and they didn't go high enough up on my leg. I am only 5 foot 2 inches so they need to come one inch below my knee in order to pull off the look with skinny jeans. Then I ordered the harness 15and they came up to the right area but there was a gap at the top which defeated the whole purpose. Despite the gap they were incredibly tight on my legs. Just can’t see shelling out that kind of money to be uncomfortable. They were so beautiful though. I tried them in tan and charcoal. I need something that will conform to the shape of my leg in order to keep from cutting me off and making me look shorter with a gap.

I ended up with these and they look just the way I wish the Fryes did but are more comfortable. I know there has to a Frye style I can wear that will look good, but I just can't find it.:(

Hello. The shoe forum is broken, so I hope it is ok to post here. I am looking at a pair of Frye Engineer 150th Anniversary boots. If anyone can tell me if they are indeed authentic, I would greatly appreciate it. It is on eBay and the item number is: 321861517199. TIA for anyone's help.
