Pics, or it didn't happen.

Yesterday I fit a pair of COH Ric Rac's (size 28) and Paige LC's (size 28) which are both pretty thick and it took me forever to get them in there.

The package is pretty bloated ... tape was not necessary to hold it shut just a security precaution.

Holy F*ck Mike! Impressive.

Question: When you are closing the flap, do you pull the flap over the edge or do roll the package over onto the flap? I find it easier (on multiple pairs) to kinda kneel on the top of the package to get it all squished in there and then roll the package over onto the flap.

eta: I just read ^ that and it probably makes no sense. Maybe I should make a video guide?

Amber -- I get you. I've done that for some of my pairs too. Kinda like using the flap as tape or like the package as a rolling pin, right?

ETA: Holy crap! That package looks like it's going to explode! LOL! Impressive work!

No I understand perfectly I roll the package over for ones like this. It usually makes for a better close and also tends to rip less. I ripped 1 envelope trying to make it fit in here. 2nd try worked.

Have you noticed the envelope materials are getting cheaper? I have some flat rates from a couple of years ago and IMO they feel a tad sturdier than the current ones. The current ones rip easily!

Pics -- we need an updated tutorial

the best i can do is one pair of average sized jeans and a few packs of Skittles. if i squish too hard, it will upset my pretty wrapping.

I do usually wrap them in tissue paper but I cannot do that when I ship two pair at once. I discounted them since it was a mulitple sale though so hopefully she won't mind.

for some reason, I got 3 packaged returned to me saying insufficient postage on 3 different days. I now have to paste the dmm flat rate section on the envelope. anyone else have this problem with flat rates?

Yeah this happens to me if I use any tape on my packages.
Since you've taped the DMM on there, have they been going through?

kphan, brilliant! I've never had issues with stuff being returned (since I package it up at home and just drop and run) but if I ever do, I am so doing that

For the stuff that has that sticker, no problems yet but I have been shipping them at a different office. For the ones that I did not stick on, they all got returned. I am fighting with the supervisor at the Irvine office. She refuses to send them out saying they are not to regulation even though I showed her the dmm section. I called consumer affairs for the usps and left a message because they are swamped with calls. I have not heard back from consumer affairs but I am putting in a formal complaint against the Irvine office because she was not able to show me in writing that the package can not be "round" or "bulky" for flat rate envelope or even a max measurement that can be in that envelope. If they changed their rules, then it should be posted some where. Basically she told me to do what I must but they are not mailing it out at her station. She instructed everyone at that office to not take envelopes stuffed similar to mine. I will keep you guys updated. I refuse to back down. I am for the time being, mailing them somewhere else because I don't want her to hold my packages for 7 days and then return them to me like she has been doing.

I found this today on their website while trying to find more detail on this.

Can tape be used to close, reinforce or enlarge Priority Mail service Flat Rate envelopes / boxes?

When mailing using the Priority Mail service, Express Mail service or Priority Mail International flat rate, the contents of the Flat Rate envelope must be confined within the envelope with the adhesive provided on the flap as the primary means of closure. Contents must also be confined within the box secured with tape.

*
The flap must have the ability to close and adhere to the envelope.
*
Tape may be applied to reinforce the flap of the envelope and to secure the box.
*
The design /shape of the envelope or the box may not enlarged by any means.

Note: Turning a flat envelope into a small "box" shape by including bulky items is a method of enlarging the dimensions and is not an acceptable use of the Flat Rate envelopes. so when we do this, does that me we are creating a "box"?

I say piss on the irvine office, you've got a "mail nazi" Like I do. So they told me at the one post office that gives me troubles.
I'd just keep sending them out at the other office.

Kelly, you are right, I was so angry but I guess why fight it anymore. I spent 3 hours at the post office and on the phone only to get even angrier. Other offices take my packages so it will work still. thanks
