silly question for parents of little ones...

so heres the background info - i am getting married in september, and i am a crazy animal lover..
i am having a few kids at the reception - 4 little girls, ages 3, 3, 5 and 8, and my godson, 2 1/2 going on twelve lol... they are all sweet and well behaved. well the girls anyway...
i found the cutest little eco plush toys, and the $ benefits wildlife conservation, which im all about.. they have elephant, panda, polar bear, etc.. so adorable..
so heres my nonsense question: if i bought different ones to give as 'place settings', would it be bad, cuz little kids always want what the other one has? should i stick with the same gift for each?
im wincing at the dumbness of this thread as i write it... but i really dont know! it would make for a hella cute kids table, but i want to make them happy, not sad..
any kid table ideas welcome, as well as any ideas for favors that benefit animals. the placecards for guests are already a donation to the ASPCA.
thanks a bunch

I think the kids would like having each a different one. Its easier for them to play with each other if they are all diff. My boys are 5 and 6 and yes they sometimes do want the other one they always end up happier with something different. They don't get bored with them as quickly either.

Congrats on your wedding!

What a nice idea that is
Maybe a quick call to their parents to find out which of the available animals is their favorite could avoid any jealousy on the part of the kids. Kind of a hassle, but it might help to keep the kids happy.

Agree with this!!! I'm a teacher and I have learned the hard way to always buy things exactly the same- same size, same color, etc. They always want what the other one has! HOWEVER, there are only 5 kids involved in your situation, and I think it's such a cute idea!!! Like EllaBella said, just try to find out their favorite animals and hopefully that will help you out!

Also, even if you are unable to find out the kids' animal preference, at very worst they sweetly trade for the one that they want (hopefully without any whining or crying). Am I being naive?

You are not being naive!! I would hope that the parents would have taught their children to be grateful for the gift--hence, no fighting...but you never know! Maybe put a place card around the toy with each kids name, that way they know which one is belongs to them! If they fight over the toys in public, at a wedding reception, then politely ask them to leave!

I think it is a lovely gesture, especially since there is a donation to the ASPCA!!

That is very cute. I also think that at their ages, i would hope they would be able to just accept a gift and be gracious no matter what it is.

Am I reading right? Are your favors... cash donations to the ASPCA? That is the GREATEST ideas ever!! I went to a wedding once and they had a similar idea. THe groom was a cop and in on the table a card read, "In Lieu of a favor a donation has been made in your name to the ... police foundation" It was so great! I would so much rather have that than a stupid picture frame or tin of mints.

Definetly different ones. They can trade or be selfish. Whichever. If they are all the same, I don't think they will have as much fun. In the end, they'll all be happy with their gift

I wouldn't put a name on them - just let the kids pick out the one they want. And you probably won't have problems with the youngest kiddos - they're still young and pure of heart and haven't learned to be selfish/whiny/etc.

Those gifts are awesome though! The WWF (not the wrestling league!) have something similar, but their "adoption center" starts at $50 per toy.
