suggestions on where to buy hip baby clothes?! [or clothes for fat pets!?!?]

I have to buy something for a baby that is turning 1 this weekend. I have no idea what to buy or where to shop. I was thinking designer baby clothes...
Can someone suggest someplace on the internet to buy designer baby clothes?

I checked Neiman's, Saks, and most of the stuff was pretty boring. It was all RL preppy stuff in basic colors. With the size I'm looking for (18 mos) there wasn't much in that size and none of it was hip or fun.

Can someone suggest a place that has modern, hip clothes for babies? Is there a Revolve for babies?!

Thanks!!!

I'd rather wait to buy really high-end stuff until the kid is at an age where they can wear it for more than a couple months and won't spit up/poop/puke on it :IDK

That said, I've gotten some RL Polo stuff at TJ Maxx for friends' babies, and I even found a Timberland top once (sort of an inside joke between us and the mom lol)...but I would by no means pay designer prices for them.

Or you could buy it now for them to have in the future and when they reach the age they will have it last a bit longer. I never buy clothing for my friends kid in their actual size. I always buy for the future. But that's just me.

Thanks for some really good ideas!

Pianochica- good point on the baby pooping & puking on it! It certainly puts spending $100+ on an outfit in perspective!

Also, good idea on buying big as a future outfit- that makes sense especially cuz this baby is huge and has been growing like he's on steroids!

I agree, I usually buy stuff too big because for occasions like birthdays, etc, a lot of people give things that will fit at the time, then a couple months later the parents have no clothes for their kid again!

I'm going to check out those websites too, one of my best friends just had a baby a week ago and I'm feeling the urge to buy cute small stuff for them!

these aren't exactly designer, but I love Tea Collection, Hannah Andersson, and Janie and Jack for boutique baby clothes. I still think they're expensive for babies (esp since my little guy gets dirt/food on EVERYTHING he wears) but cute nontheless, and nicer than gap/old navy/children's place.

A couple have people here have also mentioned Milk Shop in the past -- they have a ton of actual designer baby clothing.

Children’s clothing, baby clothes and kids shoes

I also love Tea collection. I buy that along with Appaman and small Paul t's. They aren't really high end, but if you buy short sleeve tops, then they can be layered with long sleeve t's in the winter. Small concept use to have a boutique and now they are only online. They have all that stuff.

Thanks to all who responded for the suggestions and good ideas! :)

A friend suggested a store called Outdoor kids. For anyone that has kids (or has to shop for kids!) that might be interested I found a bunch of really cute "Life is Good" clothing on sale. (Baby T's for $12-14, a 2 piece outfit with monkeys on it for $20. and monkey booties for $5.00.)

The website was a bit traumatic because its slow but I found some really cute stuff, and it arrived within 2-3 days of ordering.

Just bought some cute baby clothes from ralph lauren kids for my nephew's 1st birthday!

They are having a sale now, many are priced around $20-$30 range and I found a code online RLSP2009 (Expires 14/4) that gives an additional 30% off sale items!
