Diesel.com asking for a copy of my credit card.

This is my first time buying from the Diesel website because I could not find this one pair of jeans anywhere else. So I placed my order last week and today I received an email which asks me to:
Code:
- the Transaction Authorization Code, which you can easily obtain from the Bank or Company that issued the card (please note that the authorization code is not printed on your Credit Card, only the Card Issuer can provide you with this number). We already have this code and will immediately ensure that the code we have matches yours.
- a scan or picture of the front and back of the card used for your order.
ugh what? i have already given them the CCV code on the back of my card upon ordering. now they want a photocopy and an authorization code? it doesn't make sense to me since you can verify the card's owner by looking at the billing address. In any case, at this day in age, I have not seen anyone ask for this. There are numerous billing system that can process an order without all these jargon. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?

Red flag to me. I would call the website before sending anything.

I know what authorization code they are referring to, but I have no idea why they would ask for that. I would be very surprised if the bank released it to you. The code is used only by merchants. Each purchase you make on your card has an authorization code. The merchant can call your bank and ask for the authorization code to be removed, which will basically release the funds that are being held on your card for the purchase. Merchants wouldn't want you to call and find out what the authorization code is!

I agree with Trang. This is very fishy and I would not give them anything. Call Diesel directly.

Even if it is legit i would cancel my order and look for an online trusted proxy who has ordered from diesel.com previously.

I've ordered from them multiple times before and have never been asked for that. I wouldn't give it out

yea it seemed fishy to me too. i called my bank and they said he can't release the authorization code but they will only give me the confirmation code that appears on my statement when the charge goes through. i got a second email and it seems legit because this is coming from yoox, who handles their payment. but i told them if you can't provide a more legit reasoning then cancel my order. i'm not going to give more information than i already have on the website.

lol no. but it's retarded since my shipping address is the same as my billing address. that should be confirmation enough that it's a legit credit card.

Actually the reason why i am leaning towards the fact that it's a legit email is that they actually my my order number in the email. however, even with that being the case i am still not going to photocopy my card (front and back) and email it to them. that's enough information for anyone to dupe a copy.

Agree.
I wouldn't do it either.
No real reason IMO at all.
Makes no sense.
Especially considering your billing and shipping is the same as the CC.
