Winter Coat Recommendations?

Exactly as the title says. I need a new winter coat and am unsure what to get. I want something super warm and most likely down filled. I have heard North Face are really great, but am thinking I may look like a sorority girl if I get one?

Recommendations please?

Longer coats, not a jackets

Via Spiga brown sateen 'Caterina' hooded down coat at Bluefly

Add Down Shawl Collar Coat - - Nordstrom

Spiewak The Welmore Down Coat, Winter Coats & Jackets for Women - SHOP.COM

Actually I like this Northface one..
The North Face Triple C Down Jacket - Women's from Backcountry.com

ETA this WAS a serious thread, wasn't it?

Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Jacket - Women's at REI.com
and
The North Face Metropolis Down Parka - Women's at REI.com
I also think TNF is overpriced, even with my discount. The Mountain Hardwear coat is really nice, and also a bit more fitted (for a puffy coat).

TNF = definitely overpriced. I got mine secondhand off feebay.

My own winter coat came from a little place called "mom's closet of things she will never fit into again" it's a flaming red wool peacoat and she apparently bought it at a thrift store in the 80s for a Cher costume. (I'm guessing it's from the 70s) it's a bit big but it's warm and I get tons of compliments on it!

Get a Mackage. Revolve has them on sale and with the 30% discount it could be pretty cheap.

Edit * all the sale ones are OOS*

There are some Soia & Kyo jackets in a shop downtown for $200 (long black one with *I think* two rows of buttons). Anyone know if this is considered a good price?

North Face.

I've had mine for years & I love it. It's pretty ugly but I don't care because it's super warm!

I have really nice wool coats too when I want to dress nice. They are all really warm too.

Are you the Girl in Freddy? Maybe I've got the wrong person, but if yeah, what shop is this? I'll be there next week and I need a new winter coat.

Yes! Hahaha! It's at Envy! I *think* the cheapest ones were $200. The others were a little more expensive. There were a lot of sizes left too

Is there a Winners near you? I picked up a long S&K zip-up coat with a hood for $120 last year or the year before. It's so warm even though it's very thin. Granted, winters here are not as extreme as in the east coast!
The only thing is that it "sheds" feathers that stick to my clothing.
