My friend is trying to BE me?

Now I don't mean "I wore TRs first and now she's copying my style", it's more a matter of her purchasing all of the exact same items that I have bought, to the point that we have actually shown up places in identical outfits. She has now cut her hair exactly like mine, and has chosen to decorate her home in the same colour palette and furnishings as mine. At first it was flattering, but now it's getting kinda creepy. And in fact it has been other friends who have noticed what's been happening...they even joke that she is my SWF. I feel somewhat childish for even bringing this up, but I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen to them, and how did you or would you handle this situation? Oh, BTW she is now trying to move into our neighborhood as well.

^We've been friends for about 8 years now. This has never happened before because we have always had very different styles...but I don't know what happened :IDK

there is already a thread for these types of problems!
You need to report to the SWF thread. There are advices for these kinds of problems there.
^Sorry, I forgot!!! :ashamed I'll report there immediately!

maybe kick her ass and see if she punches herself in the face afterwards? :rofl
^:rofl:rofl:rofl

I have tried to make comments when she shows up wearing the same things as me like "Would you stop acting like my mini-me!", but she just laughs it off and says "I can't help it!" The clothes thing, while annoying, I can deal with...it's everything else. How creepy is it to go over to your friend's house and feel like you're in your own house? It's like the Twilight Zone :eyebug

LOL! That was the exact advise I was going to give! :rofl

No...seriously, from now on, every time you are with her, dress really poorly, don't do anything with your hair...no make up. See if she copies that! Also, I wouldn't be home alone with her...creepy!

Is she a good, longtime friend or someone new? I would perhaps try to joke about it and say something like, "are you trying to be me?" or "people are saying you're trying to take over my identity like in SWF." If she's not aware of how's she's coming across then that might give her an idea that it's obviously too much.

I've had this happen to me recently as well (although not nearly as blatant as your friend). I don't usually mind as long as my friend and I aren't wearing the same things when we go out and we don't live in the same city. I don't much like being twins and wearing identical clothing as if we were in junior high. I was somewhat annoyed that she hid the fact that she bought the same earrings and wore them out the same night, so I can only imagine how annoyed you are.

If you have to deal with her often, I would just not shop with her, not reveal where you buy your things and pretty much try to explain to her what OTHER things would look good on her.

I'm sorry yummy :( my ex-roommate from freshmen year of college has been doing that to me too for the past 3 years. It gets quite annoying after a while so now I just don't tell her where I got any of my stuff anymore. I just give really vague answers like "oh at this store" or "oh somewhere online" but like others said, I don't blame your friend for wanting to BE you! :love :)

Thanks for all the great advice, and the sweet comments. You know, while the clothing thing is annoying, I can deal with it. It's the fact that her house looks almost identical to mine, as well as the fact that she now wants to live next door. Even though she hasn't gone as far as to steal any of my personal info, the fact that she seems to be duplicating my home is a bit creepy.

But here's the latest tidbit...my hubby and I are trying to get pregnant, hopefully by February. Apparently my DH mentioned it to her DH (they work together BTW), and guess who's now trying to get pregnant?

I agree with the above. Start feeding them false information and see if they take the bait.

Tell her you are going to repaint some of your rooms, give her the exact colors, and see if they do it first!

I also like the fake tattoo idea!
