I'm so pathetic. Anyway, I have a wedding to go to next week, and I want to wear a sleeveless wool vest and a nice dress shirt with French cuffs. The problem is that I can't seem to figure out HOW to buy a dress shirt. I know that my chest is 38", my neck is 16", and I think my arms are 32/33". I'm looking at some English Laundry shirts though, and their SMALLS have a chest size of 40".

Trust me, I haven't worn small in a long time. So, can that be right? I want my dress shirt to be as close to my actual chest size as possible, right? Do I size up a little with dress shirts? I wouldn't think so since you don't with jackets. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I was also looking at the ones on eBay since I couldn't (quickly) find any retail sites with actual measurements for English Laundry shirts. From what I could see, they run enormous. You could very possibly be a smaller-than-small in EL shirts, LOL.

for shirts with french cuffs, you buy it based on the NECK size and sleeve length. measure your neck and arm length and buy based on the measurement in inches.

this is the only way I have ever bought a GOOD dress shirt for my husband.
