ebay messages

does ebay automatically delete messages? i had a buyer threaten negative feedback if i didnt refund their money. so i refunded and they still left negative. so i want to report them for extortion but ebay only has my 14 most recent messages. ive never deleted messages. is there any way to get those messages back?

Do you have a dropdown menu in your Messages link that says "period" ?
Mine lets me pull up the last 31 days worth.
You should also have received an email with the message too which is what you would actually need to provide for an extortion case.

BTW May I ask why you feel it was extortion?

I think messages expire in 30 days?

they threatened to give me negative feedback cause the jeans did not fit. i have measurements and everything and state that i dont accept returns. they told me they should have fit cause its their size but that i must have done something to them to make them not normal size [they are rigid ribbon dojos]. and continued to threaten negative. so i refunded. and they still left negative. the funny thing is they didnt leave negative until my relisted item got a positive feedback. so i wanted to now report them. but it seems like its too late.

You should be able to view all of them from the last 31 days. I always have mine sent to my e-mail so I have copies for more then 31 days in case I need them. PayPal disputes and Chargbacks can occur after the 31 day period. Really w/ free e-mail like gmail you can save the stuff forever w/ out worrying about using all of your space.

It is unlikely that they will remove the neg since the buyer has a complaint about the item ... even if it is untrue.

i know ebay wont remove the negative. but i wanted to report the extortion. i didnt do it in the first place cause i wasnt sure on the process. and i figured if i did what they wanted then they wouldnt leave a negative. i should just report things when they happen instead of waiting.

OP, have you checked your off Ebay email? You should have a copy of all correspondence there.

ive search and searched and cant find it anywhere. i guess ill just take it as my mistake. is it ok to make a post for others telling them about the difficult buyer and their ID name. ive seen others do it in their complaints/advice post. i just dont want anyone running into the same trouble that i ran into.

Yep, but just be careful there are always some vigilantes who will go and show your buyer this thread.
