Would you buy it?

So I recently bought something off ebay. Paid for promptly on the 20th. Seller mails me and says she'll mail it on Monday 24th.
Item still not received, so I mail her and ask her if she's sent it off, and whether she has a tracking no.
She mails me back and tells me she sent it off on monday, but she put my address as the sender address and basically mailed the package to herself.
Somehow I am having a really hard time believing that story and am sorely tempted to neg her once I get the item.
Would anyone else buy that story or think that I should give her the benefit of the doubt? Mind you, this is a seller with over 700+ feedback and a 99% positive rating.

If she put your name as the sender and receiver she did not mail the package to herself, but she mailed it so that it will wind up with you either way.

Thats the way I interpret what she did.

I would not neg her if I received the package and was satisfied,
but possibly ding the stars on shipping if it was indeed slow or shoddy shipping.

^No, she claims she shipped the package to herself and put me as the sender.

i.e. TO: her address
FROM: my address

Why would you neg her if you get the jeans and they're as described?

People do make mistakes on occasion. I think if she was trying to scam you or something she wouldn't be communicating with you.
Plus, its only been 5 actual business days..
IMO of course.

IF she screwed up the shipping as you say, then it will be in her mail box very quickly.

If she rectifies her mistake, (if it is as you are saying) I would not neg her if I was satisfied with the item.
Especially if she makes good for a mistake.
If she does NOT, then we can talk.
IMO of course.

I bought sunglasses, not jeans.
I don't think she's scamming me, but it has crossed my mind that she has not shipped the item off at all.
Not to say she won't ship them off, I just get mad being lied to about shipping dates. If she had said, I've been busy all week and haven't gotten around to mailing it off I would have been OK with that.

Well that's the thing. If she had initiated the email to me I would have been OK if it was a genuine error, but she only told me she sent them to herself after I emailed her, and I'm pretty sure it does not take 5 days to send a package to yourself.

In any case, thanks for your thoughts, we will see when I get the item, if it all. If item is sent out this coming Monday and everything is in order I will probably not leave feedback at all.

But if the postmark date is after that then I will definitely be leaving a neg.
IMO it is just not acceptable to mail a package off after having it in your possession for more than 10 days, especially since I paid immediately after using a BIN. Slow shipping due to circumstances beyond your control are one thing, tardy shipping on the part of the seller is not, imo.

Oops my bad for assuming jeans.
It would cross my mind that the seller is just making an excuse for not shipping the item, too.
Even if I got the item a little late I would not leave a neg if I was happy with the items condition etc. It would just leave me feeling wierd everytime I saw the item.
I'd ding stars but not neg. Just my opinion again though

yeah i would give them the benefit of the doubt, but i would check to see what they got their negs/neutrals for. If they have had previous issues with not shipping in a timely manner I would be suspicious of their story but still not neg as long as I got the item as described.

^ Most of her negs/neutrals are due to slow shipping, poor communication and poor packaging.

I don't think anyone has any issues with authenticity or not receiving the items though.

At least I got them for a good price, I guess that's the price you pay for shitty shipping and bad communication.

I accidentally mailed a package to myself before ... took a week to get to me ... and the post office is 5 minutes from my place.

...I dont know though, if she had so much feedback, then shouldn't she KNOW how to mail a package? People make mistakes, but something like this after so much practice...? =S

I don't think she'll scam you but maybe she forgot or she's stalling for time with this...

She has over 700 FBs and not using Paypal shipping yet (which would eliminate mistakes, since it puts the addy in for you)? Hmmm...it will be interesting to see if the package is in fact hand written or if it is a PP label.

I agree with you 100%, SHE should have initiated the email to you when she figured out she had addressed the package to herself .

Keep us posted!

I think it is very possible she did make a mistake. It is also possible she is covering up for shipping slow. Either way I would not neg her if you get the package and it is as described. Unless you don't get for several weeks I would NOT neg someone for slow shipping unless they guarantee a certain amt of time. I can get pissed but that is all IMO of course. Agree with Joan though.. would still take off stars on shipping either way.

I've also had packages sent back to me for various reasons and it's taken a few days (just ask Kelly ). I would absolutely not neg the seller unless you are unsatisfied with the item, as others have said. Sometimes people can't always make it to the PO when they thought they would and even though it's not the best idea to lie about it, it doesn't mean they deserve a neg.
