*Fit Pics* Should I keep this Leather Pea Coat?

Hello everyone!
It's been awhile since I last posted on here but you know how life gets...
Anyways, my birthday is coming up quite soon, so I decided I'd buy myself a series of gifts this year and one of them is this Schott NYC Leather Naval Pea Coat (140) in brown. I've actually been emailing Gail Hawkins from Schott back and forth on having them add some adjustment tabs to the sleeves as it's just a little bit of added 'style' that I want. She wanted me to try on the jacket and make sure it's a good fit before I send it back to have them make adjustments.
So, it arrived today and I'm genuinely impressed by the quality of the leather and lining. It's a very soft naked cowhide leather with a pretty fair weight to the jacket itself so I know it'll do quite well to help survive the brutal North Dakota winters. (It's coming soon! The high for today is 55, even though it is supposed to heat up later in the next two weeks)
The question is this then, should I keep it and have them alter it or just send it back? I've been wanting a 'properly' fitting leather jacket for a LONG time now and I just want to know if that time has finally come.
The sleeves end on my thumbs knuckle which I know is suppose to be damn near perfect and it is slightly slimming to the body/ribcage.
The shirt is an Emporio Armani underwear shirt.

I do notice that the jacket almost looks black in the photos but I assure you it IS brown, just a rather dark brown.
Any other pictures needed for helping my decide whether this is a good fitting/looking jacket, then just simply ask. I can take as many photos as needed.

Hi! Could you more photos with buttoned up ( Oh, no! My iPhone has just changed "buttoned up" into a "bitty end"!!!) jacket (hands down: front and back, hands 90 degrees up: side shot and back shot). It looks good so far.

Absolutely, I'll get on that right now. I'll add them up in 5 minutes or so.

Here we go. The jacket was completely 'buttoned up' during all of these photos.

I think it's a bit too big in shoulders and body, imho.. Could you try a size smaller as well? But then if you will put a sweater underneath.. It may look much more fitted at the back and overall.

When you had me raise my arms up, it was actually stretched over my back. It wasn't too tight to move but I think it was too tight to consider sizing down. Another thing as well, it'll be rare when I actually button it up. I have a Calvin Klein wool pea coat that I've had for 2 years now and very rarely ever buttoned it up.
Also, it's very soft leather but the jacket is still quite stiff. I think once it's broken in, it'll fit and look CONSIDERABLY better. Going back to movement, it definitely feels as though it needs to break in before it'll be as comfortable as I'd like it to be. I don't feel restrained but I do feel as though something is preventing me from moving as freely as I do in my other jackets.

This is the smallest size they have as well...

Then why don't you keep it, sizing down could be little too much (sleeve length-wise etc.) if this is something you have always wanted then I'd say go for it ;) it does look good on you

Well thank you. It's nice to know that it at least looks good. I don't know, as I get more replies and a bit more time to wear it and sorta break it in, then I'll decide. I have until next week Friday...

I don't know, I want to like it, god do I...but I'm just sorta mixed... I'm just not sure if I like it enough.
I'm wondering if it's because I sorta got swept up in the leather pea coat glory that is the movie Taken with Liam Neeson.
Thing is, I want a warm leather coat for winter but I just don't know what else to get other than this... I ride motorcycle, but I'd probably look pretty silly walking around in the middle of winter in one of these Dainese jackets.
Dainese Alien Leather Jacket - RevZilla

Besides, it's not exactly warm!

BUT! I have been looking further on Schotts website and saw this! http://www.schottnyc.com/products/me...ro-carcoat.htm
I think if I got that in the 'whiskey' color and had them add adjustment tabs to the sleeves, I'd be happy. Thing is, will it be easy to pull off the 'whiskey' color?

it's probably not a keeper if you're having second thoughts about it. i vote that you find something you like so much that you have no doubts about it.

I totally agree with you. I'm going to send it back on Monday and just have someone custom make me a jacket instead of ordering a jacket that they'll have to alter...

From experience,
Having second thoughts means I end up not liking it. It looks a bit big on you, but that's just my opinion.

Nah. I like it but not as much as I want to. It'll probably be on it's way back on Monday. But, as soon as I get my money from this return, I'm having another company custom make me a jacket based off of pictures and my feedback. Plus, it'll be a one-off and fit me absolutely perfectly.

A custom made one will be perfect. I feel like it looks slightly big on you as well but like Kati already said, the sleeves would be too short otherwise. If you don't love it, go get something you do love instead.

I'm not a fan of the fit of that one. Definitely get something that you're sure about. I do like the look with the hoodie underneath it though!

Agreed! I think it fits well...just not perfectly. Oh, and the hoodie underneath it is a Nike hoodie. What model it is though, I'm really not sure. If you like it, I can take some more fit pictures with it...or do you just mean the look of the jacket with the hoodie?

Well, the pea coat in question left today. It's on it's way back home as I just wasn't satisfied enough with it. In fact, I'm so damn picky, I've decided to scrap the whole 'leather jacket' idea all together. I had plans on having a company custom make me a jacket but they said it'll take around 3 to 4 months to make me one. Now, I was buying myself a jacket for my birthday (it's in 7 days!) but if I have to wait 3 to 4 months, it'll be a ruddy Christmas present... so I ordered another jacket. No, it's not leather, but it *is* special nontheless. I'll take some fit pics soon.
