corduroy pants?

i think they're a nice alternative to jeans in the fall, and i love j brand's skinny cords; however, i don't want to spend that much on corduroy pants. i found that gap's lightweight skinny cords fit surprisingly well, are quite flattering, and incredibly comfy.

my only gripe is that they seem to run short. the aubergine pair i got is regular length and has an inseam of 28". i was going to order a pair in rust since the store i went to didn't have any, but they're sold in the regular length in my size. i like them so much that i might order the petite. i'm afraid the inseam is going to be something like 25" though.

the aubergine is gorgeous in real life; the pics don't do them any justice because the color is off (on my monitor at least). highly recommend, plus they're 35% off (sale ends today, i believe)

oh, and just because i LOVE the colors... these are the j brand ones i'm pining for.

Thanks for the review, Cat! That's bizarre that these have such a short inseam, but that is good news for me! I wish the aubergine ones weren't sold out in my size. I think I'll try the "justice blue" ones since they look like they could be similar to the pretty peacock color J Brand has.

Thanks for posting, Cat. I am considering those Gap ones. I have a few pairs of AG skinny cords which I really love too.

Sorry for the double post: Cat? What size did you do? 00? I'm just trying to figure out which size to get.

^00, measurements-- waist 12.5" dip, 13" aligned; rise 7"; hips: 15.5"; leg opening 5". they are very soft and stretchy, and i imagine they'll stretch out a bit with wear.

karen, i saw the blue ones in store. they're pretty too. they looked to be navy blue (no teal tones).

I've always been a fan of cords over the years and they're a great way to do colored bottoms. I don't think I'm cool enough to try skinny cords though. I'll probably stick to bootcut.

Yeah.. I had beautiful black slim straight cords by Miss Sixty(Eden) wore them until they got too tight Loved them!
Eta: I'd try burnt orange slim cords but I don't think that they would look nice on a size bigger than 27

Thanks for the review. My size is sold out in regular, so should I size up 1 for petite? It looks like they are cut smaller all over but I've never tried Gap petites before.

no idea, melissa. never tried their petite cuts.
these are actually the first gap pants i've tried in many years. i usually go in there for kids clothes only, but the corduroys caught my eye.

I went ahead and ordered the petite cut in 2 different sizes. Hopefully one of them will work.

Petite runs just a tiny bit smaller than regular (like maybe a half size?). I usually wear 6p at Gap while 6 regular is slightly too loose.

The aubergine pair is gorgeous, but they're sold in all but size 14 and 20.
I like the toasted almond color too but they're sold out in my size unless I can do a 0.

^^yeah, those are inaccurate. a couple of the reviewers also noted that the regular length seemed shorter than 30", which is definitely true for the pair i have since it's only 28".

eta: j crew has "skinny" cords on sale for $19.99!

I love cords but what kinds of shoes would you wear w/ skinny cords? I have only worn bootcuts and would be clueless with skinnies.

Yeah, you say anything, but when I put on "anything" I look like a clown. I think it's my absurdly long feet and chicken legs.

I had a pair of those a few years ago that I loved, but yeah, they are "skinny" not actually skinny. More like straight legs in my opinion, and I have some big calves.

^^ I think any kind of Ugg shoes (any length) are great or leather ankle boots/booties. Maybe Converse.. That's what suited me, other kind of shoes .. and I looked like an idiot.

^ Girls of a size 28 and up look better in slim straight rather than skinny cords, imho.

I must be in the minority here. I hate cords. They make me look 3 sizes bigger than I am It makes me sad cause the colors are beautiful.

Oh, those J Brand ones are really pretty. I have a pair of the Paige Verdugo Cords in the mail. I won the auction for $2.25 so I figured they were worth a try.

^I know, it's crazy. I've won a few auctions like that recently. I'll post some pics when they come. I probably owe a ton of Paige fit pics

I bought these in 24 short in the caramel color. They fit fine (slightly relaxed on me), but I'm hoping to find a skinnier cut. Especially in aubergine and/or burnt orange.
