Leather Tanning Wallets

I've seen leather tanning wallets with some sort of strap (that attaches to your belt loop, I suppose). I'm getting interested in purchasing one, but cannot find that specific one... I've look at both Corter and TannerGoods, no dice. Any help?

ETA: just found a leather chain at corter: Corter Leather — Leather Chain
Do you clip this on to your tanner wallet, or is there a wallet that comes with a chain?

Most of the time you purchase your reign (chain) separately.

Some more excellent leather craftsmen

Obbi Good - forum member here and on SUFU and else where. Good stuff, lots of designs to choose from. Can make you something that is custom to you.

Obbi Good Label @ France, Handmade Leather Company

warhorse workshop - I posted some photos from this guy in the leather goods thread. The wallets there are pretty detailed and not just plain leather. He could just as easily make you a plain leather wallet or something with less detail if you liked. His jobs are all custom I believe. He does some amazing work.

Personally I would go with someone who would custom make a wallet for me. I don't think tanner will customize anything for you correct? I would pass on them. Thats just IMO though.

Check out obbi, it's a little on the pricer side.

There's a teacher on SF named Scott who makes leather goods in his spare time. He has cow and horse hide.

As for customization, I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions? I'm quite unsure of the design I want. Although I'm a big fan of the buttons on these wallets. Here's a picture of one he made:

But I also love how the details on this wallet he made is simple but aesthetically pleasing:

I'm also searching for a belt, he charges $40, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.

For customization I would just take a look at some different wallets and get an idea of what you want. The 1st wallet you posted above looks pretty nice. There are a lot of different variations that you could try.

I really like this one it is pretty unique compared to a lot of the wallets out there.

Hm... The fact that you need to "wind" it to close the wallet, will there be a chance that it'll break? I wouldn't want it to break, which is why I would prefer a button.

Also how big is that wallet? Will it stick out of your back pocket even when it's all the way in there.

That is probably a mid/long wallet. Would stick out of your pocket I believe. Yeah the leather tie might break but it would probably take quite a bit of wear to get it any where close to that point. Leather can last a long time and take a real beating.

I have made a quick draft of what my wallet may be. I've got a response from the Scott and replied with a draft:

I wanted a coin pouch for mine.
What do you think? Should I go with the additional flap (I do have a lot of cards) But I'm fine with 6 slots currently.

Opinions on my design in general?

Seems like the coin pouch is going to sit on the wallet funny or it will be super long ... at least the way I understand it.

Maybe flip the coin pouch to go the other way ... so it is side ways when it is in your pocket and put a zipper on it and no flap. Then you could also fit $$ into it.

Hm.. I'm going to have to think about this more.

Why have you decided to sell your FH belt?

Doesn't fit, it is to short for my taste. Also think the money would be better put to use on some other stuff I have been eying.

Quality wise it is incredible. Belt will last FOREVER. If it fit I probably wouldn't consider selling it.

Its $130 on the forum. I can't really go any lower. I wear 30 in Samurai and 31 in Flat Head, 29 - 30 in Diesel, 29 - 30 in TR, 30 - 31 in R&R.

I can do something similiar, with different internal slots. Rein hooking same method but different design.
I'll PM the price to u, rather than posting in the public
