Levi's 501xx STF Sizing Question

I'm looking to start a dry journal and get some STFs..I was just wondering what size to go with. I'm normally a 34/32. But I've heard to go up sizes so I was thinking 35/34. But then I saw that you should go down in size...so I'm just confused on what to do. Haven't bought the jeans yet, but I'm lookin to buy them soon and start.

So what size should I go with. I like the skinny fit look a lot, currently I've got five pairs of 511's and a pair of 514's.

Also, would you recommend a pre-soak? I've seen people do that but then some people on here say water is the enemy.

.... Water does not equal enemy.
Presoaks are fine, they help shrink they jeans (if you feel that they are too long for you, if you feel they are too loose on you, do it!)
If you splash water on your jeans while washing your hands, it's OKAY.
If you wear your jeans in the rain with an umbrella, it's OKAY.

Its recomended to go down a size in the waist because with the large amount of wear that you will do with your jeans the waist will stretch out, and size up in length because after the soaks you do the length will also shrink. so depending on what you want a 33 or 32 waist with something longer than 32 should work good and as for water being an enemy its actually a good thing, because a soak every 2 months keeps your jeans strong (the cotton that is, from what ive heard), the only way i can see them being a bad thing is if you have a perfect length prior to your first soak because it will shrink it to less than what you want so that is why sizing up in length helps

Size down two, then soak them (hot water) as soon as you get 'em.
At least, that's how I do it.

My Levi's 537 Slim Fit - Size Down One

I have learned to size down one with Levi's.
My waist size is 31, and I recently purchased two pairs of 537 slim fit Levi's.
Wore them both only several times in a 2 week span, and started to notice a significant butt sag and a bit of looseness as well on the front waist of the jeans. I then started to use a belt for both pairs, and I still did not enjoy the look of them much any longer.

Since the 537 model is a slim fit, they are supposed to look more slim and not much looseness. I exchanged them both for a size 30 waist and they were a bit tight at first, but plenty of stretching them out and some squats, and walking around did the trick. They fit perfect now.

I haven't purchased a pair of Levi's in awhile before my 537's, so I forgot about them having a big stretch factor.

I will always size down one with a pair of Levi's.
