Saw it tonight and I have to say that it's definitely worth watching in theaters! Guys and girls will love it.

After watching this movie, I can say that Disney animation studios might be on its way towards redemption. After the abomination that was "Chicken little", and the utterly (and thankfully) forgettable "Meet the Robinson's", this was refreshing. Now I have the canine bias, so my opinions hereafter should be taken with a pinch of salt, but still, this movie was perfectly passable and at its best, charming.

The first ten minutes were absolutely scintillating in all of their Michael Bay parodic glory. I couldn't help but think that a complete film of this nature would have been an interesting take (a la "The Incredibles"). Everyone will be talking about the Hamster. Hell, everyone already is, and with reason. He adds some much needed levity to the film which could have very easily been bogged down by the appropriately dogged demeanor of Bolt and the cynical realism of Mittens.

The story was predictable enough, but still engaging for the most part. Bolt's character design, adorable. Adorable enough to steer the kiddies into an altogether less "Chihuahuay" doggy obsession, for better or worse.

And while I didn't exactly love this film, I will say this...ehem...

(slight, slight spoiler below)

20 years old here, and I have not welled up in a film (in theaters at least) for about seven years if I remember correctly. I am also very much a dog lover and during that damned studio fire scene, my streak ended. I take pride in my stoicism, but I was very close to actually crying during this bit. The tears were there though. Something about dogs....and peril....and unadulterated loyalty....and such. Always gets me. Always. And him curling up with Penny, waiting for their seemingly inevitable end...sniff...

(end of slight, slight spoiler)

Not bad, Disney. Not bad at all.

saw this movie and LOVED it!! the animation is amazing and the trio is so freakin adorable. however, i feel that the storyline lacks a little something that pixar movies has... it's really simple but i guess it *is* intended for the younger audience. i would still recommend it to anyone of any age though.

We watched the digital 3D version, and it was cool. I cry at commercials, so it was no shock to me that I bawled during this movie.

:)

(Oh, btw, I LIKED Meet the Robinsons...that T-rex was absolutely hilarious!)
