Ebay is extremely hard to figure out fake from real. Many, many products are fakes and the newer China jeans are very good. Sites like this are actually a wonderful how-to guide for the factories. Unless it has a tag from a known store along with good pics i would not want to buy it. You will almost never see real TR, Diesel or Rock & Republic jeans in a newer style close for under $100 if they are new.

^ store tags are easily faked. I have bought plenty of new jeans for under $100 on ebay. and this is SO not the right thread for this discussion anyway. start a new thread if you want to post further.

Can anyone help me out with this. I am planning to purchase a pair of TR from eBay, but would like some authenticity checking help. I already own one pair but the purchase was easy as it was from a department store. Anyhoo, here are the three links if someone would be kind enough that would be great.

I just received a fake pair yesterday from a buyer on ebay and they told me they got them them from a department store on clearance and that was the reason it had a $35 tag on them and the pocket lining looked horrible and blurry- barely able to view anything that resembled Buddha

Shocked at how you misguided people for so long

I have never been on any kind of forum until today. I was forwarded here by a friend. I have only read the top half of the first page of "eBay Guides - Authenticating TRUE RELIGION - A pictorial guide" and I already got so angry and registered today just wanting to correct you. The deadly wrong advice you gave is about the letter "J". You claim "There are many new fakes now with the correct J on the inner tag, but no real pair will NOT have the 'dipped J'". Old jeans of TRUE RELIGION from several years ago actually have the dipped "J". But more modern designs have leveled the "J" with the rest of the letters. 2 pictures of inside tags shown in the guide are actually both correct so you may not judge the authenticity of the jeans by the letter "J". This is such a huge mistake any self-claimed knowledgeable person can make.

I'm not sure how closely you read here, but the guide pretty clearly states that refers to old (pre 2007) pairs and notes multiple exceptions thereafter. There are so many constant changes from TR that it is difficult to keep things up to date as well as run this entire forum and do my day job. It also clearly states that authentication should be done on a pair as a whole and not based on one single point. the line that you are so worked up over is pretty obviously from a previous edit that i forgot to remove, anf i will do so when i have internet access from a computer instead of a phone. don't see the need for the nasty attitude.

btw, from your registration info I'm guessing you are the eBay seller designerwarehouse? I'm going to guess that possibly some moron buyer is accusing you of selling them fakes based on misreadings of guides? If so, sorry to say but morons are going to be morons no matter what. However you would catch a lot more flies with honey here, and probably do a great service to your business, with a better first impression here

I apologize that if I offended you in any way. You don't know how devastating this guide you made here affects my potential customers. I assume you are also the one who just told my customers that the items I'm selling are IRR. I want to ask you where you obtained the information that my items could possibly be IRR. You cannot just assume this based on my pictures. My business has been thriving for the past 10 years, but recently I have been receiving too many complaints from customers concerning the guide that you have posted. I was forwarded to this forum many times, to the point that it is frustrating. Your guide is accurate in some cases, but I would like to ask you to remove more outdated information ASAP. I would really appreciate this.

I am most certainly not that person. I didn't even see that thread. The poster who posted that question is indeed a moron, who has actually been banned from here now, and was quite an annoyance.

I would love to revamp the guides when i have some more hours in the day, and when ebay allows more space and pictures in guides

The guides also all very clearly state that they are not a substitute for an expert eye/evaluation. Most buyers it is true will simply still not have a clue what they are looking at from just reading a few things. We are just trying to get some awareness out, and try to show a few pointers

The guides are focused on the jeans.

We are always glad to help you with authenticating TR hoodies if you post pics of them.

to AF!
