or do you have to hem them? You can't roll them, because of the huge flare, right??

i will say though that if you have to hem them TOO much, you lose most of the twisted seam effect.

Yes, they can. They need to be hemmed, of course, and it has never been a problem for me (I'm 5'1"). I don't like how rolled jeans look, regardless of brand/style, so I always hem.
