I bought my first authentic pair of tr's this weekend at nordstrom (the first pair I bought turned out to be fakes...I bought them at a store that was selling them as real). I think I made yet another mistake with my purchase. The sales clerk told me that if I had them hemmed with the courtesy hem that they would look exactly the same as if I had the hems cut off and re-attached...they don't! Did I ruin a $240 pair of jean?

I'm sorry, I personally would be pretty upset with the sales clerk cause she doesn't know what shes talking about! I just had 5 pairs done at Nordstroms and 2 were TR, but I had specfically asked the tailor to use the original hems. Those were an extra charge $22 a pair. I'm surprised the tailor didn't ask you about the hems when they measured you... Did you talk to anyone at Nordstrom about it?

I think you should be able to return them if she really ensured you they'd look the same. They rarely do.

The tailor didn't say anything...I think she was upset because the sales clerk had put a rush on the job. I was in from out of town and leaving the next afternoon. Should I call the store?

Yeah I'd be pretty upset too. Maybe she knew that original hem would take longer than just a regular hem and just wanted to make the sale. I'd just call the original store or even the Nordstroms closest to you and tell them what happened. I think as long as you have proof of purchase they'll let you exchange/return even with the hems, especially since it wasn't your fault. Hope everything works out!

I do agree all TRs look better when they are hemmed with the orginal. I've only had one pair of my TR that was heemed with the orignal so far. They look funny, I don't know if its because the tailor never did it before, or if its because she had to cut over 4-5 inches off the jean off before she could reattach the orginal.
