| | | Ebay offer outside of eBay? Okay, so an eBay seller (100% feedback) and I have come to an agreement on some jeans. She's willing to do it for less if we go outside of eBay and do a straight paypal invoice. Is this worth it or is this too risky? Help!

| | | I think that is risky. Why can't she just set up an auction with a BIN for you? |

| | | I thought it was against ebay policies to go outside of ebay? I know they can't technically enforce that. It's also risky since you won't have any protection if the transaction goes sour. I personally wouldn't do it but that's just me....

| | | i've done it tons of times myself. she probably wants more if she puts up a BIN to cover the fee.

| | | if the seller sends you an invoice through paypal and you pay it with a credit card..you're still 'protected' . as far as i'm concerned- it's similar to a mall transaction. |

| | | The idea that there is protection by buying in an eBay transaction is really just an eBay marketing ploy. Do not be fooled. There is not an ounce more risk in buying off ebay with your credit card than there is buying on ebay with your credit card. Credit card being the key term here |

| | I have bought outside of ebay several times; I insist on using a credit card through paypal (or another safe payment method). |

| | | Thanks a lot...was feeling okay about it, but just wanted the reassurance. I don't know how this keeps happening....I say no more jeans but just this weekend alone so far I've bought 3 pairs! And of course none of them were on my wish list. Clearly, I have issues...let's just hope they fit!

| | | unfortunate but true, ebay does zilch to protect your purchase. Use the credit card payment thru paypal, as long as you feel positive she's a trustworthy seller and have seen pics of the actual jeans of course. The only reassurance ebay gives you is a way to leave + or neg feedback on a transaction. |

| | yup, I've purchased outside of ebay a lot, too. Hahahaha, I completely splurged last month on mostly things that were not on my wishlist, and I'm trying to narrow down my list. Good luck with the transaction!! I hope you get what you want |

| | | This is so good to know! I always thought you were more protected somehow if you go through ebay! I feel so liberated now.... Thanks!

| | I have done it many times too. Most of the time, there were already bids placed and they canceled the item early..I am waiting for a pair of jeans that I paid for yesterday off ebay..I am nervous because I accidently paid by bank transfer instead of by my visa
Fingers crossed....
