yes it is physically possible. people cheat the postage all the time. but when it gets caught and arrives to your buyer postage-due, they will probably not be very happy.

Express Flat Rate INTERNATIONAL must be printed through USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service)

You get a discount on the fee as well.
No, you can not use Paypal, you would have to use your CC.

man, i should have read this thread before. i was all worried because i just shipped something using the flat rate envelope (not jeans). it's bulkier than jeans but still fits into the envelope and the flap was able to close, but i did put more of those priority tapes all over the flap and seams just in case. do you think they will be picky about that? :/

edit: nevermind, just read through the DMM and this thread. i think i will be fine i should post a pic of that package. it's hilarious how much tape i put on it.

I HATE MY POST OFFICE.

I went in their today, to ship some jeans. They fit in the flat rate envelope fine, but just to be sure I put taped my label along the flap. The lady looks at me and YELLS at me, saying that I am not allowed to do that because the tape is 'too thick' (uh, it was their tape?) and along the seam. I told her it was in the DMM that I was allowed to do so, and that I was just taping on a freaking label. She said that she had gotten a memo about how reinforcing was not allowed, blah blah, and how my tape was too thick. She told me I could send it, but their would be postage due on the other end. I finished my taping job (along the seam, but taping on a LABEL) and handed it to her and walked out. I wanted to be like BITCH PLEEEEASE the whole time but I knew that wouldn't get me anywhere.

Where can I get a copy of this DMM? I am furious right now. At least my package is insured.

ETA: Saturday I shipped something out, in a flat rate envelope, and did the same thing, taping the label on the flap. She said nothing.

Mine barely closed, but I was able to seal it and secure it with tape. If USPS gives me poop about it I will show them the DMM. Thank you Luvapup, Treasurehoard, Pam and everyone else who knows what's up for help on this! You saved my tush a good $5 from using the flat rate Priority Mail box (as I was using) for each pair.

ETA: i did not MAKE $5 on shipping either. Just so you know .

I just went over to the states and shipped out a pair of jeans in the domestic flat rate priority envelope. Is the label # the tracking? it doesnt show anything on the USPS website.

Crap...I wish I would have seen this yesterday!! I had No CLue (as usual) and today I had to return those NASTY fake coh and I stupidly (well naively) put them in a regular priority mailer and paid like $8.35... all because some beeaaiittcchh breaks the law : maufacturing and selling nasty fakes on ebay using the bait and switch scammoolla!!!!! this would have been 1 case where I seriously could have used saving some money since no refund of shipping although once I get my refund I have some great news to post re:this issue to be continued.........next week

Man, had my first fiasco with Flat Rates today. A worker at the PO that I always go to decided to rag on the tape over the opening that I had used to tape the label with. She made me take them all off (I mailed 5 flat rate envelopes today ). So pointless. I need to print out the DMM I even told her the DMM had a rule about tape being okay.

That's funny... The guy at my post office told me that I could save a bunch of money if I stuff my jeans into a flat rate priority envelope instead of using Priority Tyvek. When I told him I doubted they'd fit or that it might rip he told me that I should tape it real good. I guess it depends on the person.

this might be a really dumb question but what are the dimensions of the priority flat rate envelopes everyone is using?
i tried with a thin women's pair (following the pic instructions) and couldn't get them to fit for the life of me...maybe i had the wrong size envelope?

You HAVE to be kidding me?

The envies are standard size, both the USPS Priority and Express.

I don't think I could have spelled it out any better.

12.5 x 9.5 basic dimensions flat and unfilled side to side.
