Dear BabyJ,

Courtney - my wife (Lov2Shop) is running around the house like a maniac trying to find every pair of denim that she can hem, because she just did her first pair using your guide, and they turned out perfectly. I think she is in love with you now.

lol

EXCELLENT guide BabyJ!!!

for those who just started: after a little bit of practice, you won't even need to do step #2 (first round of sewing). just measure, fold back over, iron, pin, and go straight to sewing from the outside!

Great pictorial Babyj! I might just have to go to my mom's and hem all my jeans that need it! I don't have a sewing machine, and am way too lazy to do it by hand. I've done 2 pairs like that, and I don't have the patience to do anymore.

Nola, your guide was great, but there is no way in hell I could trust myself to take a pair of scissors to premium denim.

FANTASTIC guide! I can't wait to try it later today!! it!

I have a brand new machine- is the needle o.k. to use or do I need the denim needle? I've never heard of one before?! Should JoAnn's have them?

Great guide BabyJ! I love the denim colored thread and the clear! I sew my cuff turned up about an 8th of an inch away from the hem that way you are only sewing through two layers of denim. Thanks, this is awesome!

Tried out the clear thread on my greys. Didn't like it. In the light it reflects white, so I had to rip it all out and use matching grey thread. Oh well. Hope you guys have better luck with it.

This is awesome and seems so simple! Thanks for sharing/showing pictures through the guide. I'll have to do this to my new pr tonight after the kiddos go to bed.

think this would work on a really old sewing machine? my mom's is older than i am...i'd have to have her do it though, bc i can't operate it to save my life. but i have TR tonys and sfam lilys that both desperately need to be hemmed...

It should! Those older ones have more gusto than the newer models, me thinks.

All this time I've been cutting away the excess fabric that's folded up under there and just using a zigzag to prevent fraying. It never occured to me to sew up on the seam to hold it!! That is so cool. Then they can be let back down if needed.
