| | | Bumping..... My mall listing was deleted today because I posted
a comment in regards to a post previously left by
another member. The new listing thread had only been
up for a few minutes, I believe. I had absolutely no ill
intent when I posted as my listing was already at the
top. I was not aware that responding to, or rather
commenting on, a post in my listing was considered
pre-mature bumping.
I feel icky about this because I would never knowingly
break the rules. So in light of this, may I request
that the bumping rule be clarified some in the sticky?
Maybe, "responding to or commenting on a post, unless
the member asks a direct question related to the
item, is also considered bumping". Something along
those lines I guess. I just don't want anyone else to feel
as stupid as I do at the moment.
Thanks Mods and my apologies!!

| | I moved your thread back to the selling area.
Your post really was an unnecessary one, and could be considered a bump since it was completely not necessary.

| | | In light of all the "convo bumping" i'm seriously considering making mall threads non-postable entirely so it won't be an issue |

| | | My view on bumping is.... if the post in no way helps your sale (lowering the price, answering someone's question, posting more measurements as requested, posting more pics as requested, etc.), then I would abstain from posting.
There has been a lot of thread crapping and side conversations going on in threads lately, as well as a ton of "whyyyyyyy can't these be my size", "omg, so pretty" posts, etc. While a seller cannot control what other people will respond with, they should realize that these people are essentially giving them free bumps and any additional responses are not necessary. |

And if anybody has questions, they can just PM the seller.
My listing was already at the top when I posted. I really was just bantering...
never thought twice about it. I'm sorry, really!!

| | | The only problem I see with making mall threads unpostable is that the seller can't bump the thread legally either then? How would that work?

| | | Only seller would be able to post, making it much easier to identify inappropriately early bumps |

| | Then I love the idea. I think it will clear up all the problems encountered with early bumping if no one else can post in the thread, as well as keep the listing cleaner as a whole.
Any questions can be PM'ed. It's worth a try, IMO.

| | | idalis, on another site that I go to, they have a huge buy/sell/trade section, and once you post, you cannot bump it for 48 or 72 hours, can't remember which one, and no one can post in your thread. All contact must be done through PM. It is nice, because you cannot accidentally bump your thread and get it locked. It just cannot be messed with. I think what you mentioned is a good idea. |

| | | i like that idea too..only thing is..sometimes potential buyers want to know the fit if someone has the same or the seller doesn't know the wash and somene else helps them out there which helps in the sale..how would that be done? i guess you could post in the appropriate brand section..but the seller wouldn't want to be semi-advertising their sale in the brand section because they need help for their listing or they'll get in trouble too..??=)

| | | My 2 cents: I guess it doesn't hurt to try the pm thing, but I do have a little tiny concern. I liked that other members can post questions or comments up b/c members can check each other. for ex, when a seller says that it runs big and someone posts that theirs were tts, it helps me realize that the seller may be incorrect. also, when there's something slightly off in the jeans and someone notices and says for ex "is the stitching on the A a little fray?" , this helps me also notice things I might not have. also, on pm, the seller can say it isn't... and no one else is there to disagree. i hate to bother a mod all the time to ask them their opinion on that condition of the jeans. just my thoughts. not sure what they're worth. |

People should know this. (However, I personally don't mind the side conversations by non-sellers. It's just more opinions for me to figure out if I want the jeans or not.) | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
