Shipped to ebay confirmed address, buyer is claiming INR

Can anyone tell me the best course of action here?

I sold a pair of jeans on eBay several days ago. I went by the address provided in the ebay "item has been sold, ship now" email. That address has the zip code 90045. I sent it out via USPS priority with delivery confirmation. Several days ago, tracking info says it was delivered to the address in 90045.

This afternoon, I received this message:
Hi,You may receive this back because I think even though I have updated my shipment address to zipcode 90043, it seems this got delivered to my old address (5 years ago!) to zipcode 90045 I am trying to track this down now and see what happened. If you receive it back, please reship it back to me and I will pay postage. When I look at my shipment email from you it has the correct address of *********** 90043, so I'm not sure what is wrong. Thanks, Chris

I responded with:
Hi Christine,I did sent [sic] it out to the **** 90045 address. It was the address listed. Is it possible for you to drive over there to see if the current tenants know of its whereabouts? If it comes back to me, I will be sure to let you know. Please keep me updated. Sorry for the inconvenience! Hope to hear from you soon.

Her response:
Hi, Yes I did go over to that address and of course no one knows anything. Hopefully they just returned it to you so please keep an eye out for it. I'll pay the postage to send it out again. I looked at both my order details and the confirmation email and both of them have my *** 90043 address so it's really puzzling to me that an old address showed up (I haven't lived there since 2006 ). thanks and sorry ...Chris

Since the tracking info says it was delivered, I highly doubt I will be receiving the package back. I would be happy to ship it back to the buyer if that's the case. However, it seems like I'm SOL here. I didn't notice that there were two different addresses and went ahead and shipped to the one provided in the ebay email.

Any word of advice? What should we do to resolve this issue?

If you shipped to the address on the paypal account you will be covered by seller protection. Most likely what happened is paypal defaulted to their old shipping address. For some idiotic reason they feel the need to keep all of a users old addresses on file forever and there is a major glitch in the address system that defaults to old addresses at random. They are well aware of the glitch, and completely unhelpful in fixing the problem.

I shipped to the address eBay provided.
Buyer opened a claim:
"The seller sent it to the wrong address, but I don't think it is the seller's fault. For some reason, even though I had updated both Ebay and PayPal with my new shipping address, it went to the old address. I received 2 emails from Ebay stating that I won the item and paid for it and it was being shipped and the new address was listed. When I didn't receive it, I contacted the seller and they stated the address it was sent to, which is an old address. I haven't lived there is over 5 years, but I went to the apartment complex and contacted the property manager. I also left a note on the door. The property manager contacted the tenant but they have denied having the package. At this point I am not sure what to do. Seller sent it, post office delivered it, but it went to wrong address (not the shipping address) and it seems someone has pretty much stolen it. What are my options now since it is not the sellers fault? Thanks, Chris"

She wants a refund...
How should I proceed?

Not your fault they didn't delete that old address out like they should have done. You will win a claim. You sent to the address listed and it shows delivered. You did all that you were required to do in order to be covered.

Hopefully it will get returned to you. Although if the people there are claiming they never got it then there isn't anything anyone can do.

Have they only opened a dispute at this point or is it at the point of claim already? Either way, be sure to enter necessary tracking info.

I haven't received the package. I think the current tenants are holding onto it, even though they deny ever receiving it.

The claim has been opened but I haven't taken any action yet.
I've added the tracking info already.

What type of action should I take?
Sorry, this is my first claim and it's quite confusing.
Thanks for your help, you two.

Is it giving you the option to escalate? If you have enter tracking showing delivered then escalate to let eBay handle.

Yes, it's allowing me to escalate it.
I want to chose "You already shipped the item with tracking information" and explain that I shipped, with delivery confirmation, to the address provided by ebay.
