Anyone Else having Issues with Shipping Addresses?

I recently had two items returned to me (one ebay transaction, one paypal invoice) because the person no longer lived at the address the item was shipped to. When I contacted both buyers to verify their addresses both stated that it was shipped to the wrong address. One buyer had not lived there in 5 years. I had them go in and confirm that their Paypal address was correct and they stated it was. Did I just encounter two buyers who did not properly update their address in Paypal or is this happening to others? I shipped both items in the beginning of Sept.

Second, both buyers still want their items. I don't want to recharge shipping but feel I should not have to pay again. Both items are light weight and will be shipped 1st class so it is not a large amount of money and if I have to eat it I will.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am going to contact Paypal and see what they have to say. TIA

This problem occurs usually due to paypal/ebay error. Happens to us occasionally to. Either due to a glitch in the ebay/paypal system or because the buyer has not updated their address. PayPal has some dumb policy where they want to keep every single address you have ever had on the account FOREVER and so it sometimes causes problems on the buyers(and sellers) ends when paypal inserts the old address as the default even though it is no longer your primary shipping address. I doubt they will cover your shipping in this case but worth a shot

The buyers should at least be willing to split the loss with you...

Or might I suggest that when they receive the items you, ahem, "mutually agree to cancel the transaction" if you get my drift.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Good idea Pam!

I am getting so sick of selling on ebay or anywhere really. I have encountered an influx of strange issues lately. Guess that means I should stop buying so much.

Yes, this happened on a bonanza transaction last week and an eBay transaction a couple weeks ago. I got screwed on both.
Same old, same old.

Geez... I've never had that happen to me before. Sounds scary.

I'd probably go and PM each buyer after the payment's been sent to confirm that address is correct.

I ordered 2 items from 6PM last week. I completely forgot about one of the orders and looked this AM and saw that it was shipped to my old address! Definitely PP's fault since I paid through PP for both and one order was shipped to my current address and one to the old address. Luckily the package is being forwarded to my house-My daughters TR Super T's are in the box

This just happened to me on ebay. I was about to refund a Canadian buyer because it had been over 2 months since I had shipped her item and it still hadn't arrived. She happened to contact on old neighbor and they said they have had her item for over a month but didn't have her current address to foward it.

Is this a new glitch with paypal or has it been going on for a while?

I am very fortunate in this case but do I need to verify every address before shipping now? That would be a huge pain in the ass!
