Ebay item condition guidelines, what do you think NWOT should be used for?

So, just wondering what everyones thought is on listing jeans "new without tags"? There are always several sellers who list items "new without tags" when the jeans have CLEARLY been worn, walked on, damaged, ect. There are also several sellers who list jeans which have been worn once for about an hour to a casual event and the jeans honestly do look brand new still, but list them as used. What are your thoughts on listing jeans "new without tags", is it ok to say they are NWOT if you can't tell they have been worn?

lol they are only new without tags if I never wore them and ripped the tags off (for god knows what reason). Just because they look "brand new", to me , they aren't so I would be listing them under used.

It can be subjective. Most pairs of jeans in the store are tried on multiple times by different people. If the jeans have been tried on as you would in a dressing room - I would still consider that new. If you wear them around for much more time than that best to sell them as pre-owned.

Majority of the time if it is to close to call with the stuff I sell, I go with pre-owned.

For me, even sometimes if I have washed them once but not worn I will still list them as pre-owned. I know that generally you may get more money for something listed as new rather than used, but it's not worth the grief if there is any sort of inclination that item may not be new.

On a kind of funny side note, I'm in a similar dispute right now with a seller over a what constitutes "BNWT". Seriously, thought that was an easy one! It's not over jeans, it's over a pair of Lululemon pants, so you would kind of have to be familiar with Lululemon to fully understand. The item was described as BNWT but had no tags when they arrived in the mail. The seller is disputing that for Lululemon brand new with tags refers to the fact that the size tag (which can be ripped out) was still intact. Of course this is all aside from the fact that the pants, although in like new condition, have clearly been worn a few times as they have pilling between the thighs.

I think ebay should really add a new item condition for "like new" for clothing, because there is a very big difference between something that is pre owned and worn 100+ times and is falling apart, and something that has been worn or washed only once.

It would be fine if most sellers knew how to use it appropriately. However most do not. I see stuff listed as "like new" all the time, usually it is far from it.
