Help with USPS - lost 2 packages that were extremely valuable?

Is there anyway to get USPS to even look for 2 missing packages that don't have tracking? My grandparents sent me 2 big boxes full of collectible antique toys to sell on eBay (over $5000 value between the 2), but for whatever reason, they decided to send them to me USPS parcel post with no insurance or tracking. They mailed the boxes 23 days ago now and they still haven't shown up. My roommate is at home everyday during the day and leaves for work shortly before I get home from my job, so it's highly unlikely that they've been delivered and just stolen from the porch or anything like that. I know that USPS is using some sort of internal tracking on most packages now, is there anyway that I could get them to even try to track these down? What are the odds that parcel post (going 2/3 of the way across the country) will still show up after more than 23 days if it hasn't already arrived? This is really quite frustrating...

I should say, the one thing that gives me a bit of hope is actually that neither of them has shown up yet. I figure that if one of them had shown up a week or 2 ago, but the second one hadn't, then I would be pretty sure that the 2nd wasn't going to show up. What are the odds of both packages getting stolen or damaged though? Still seems possible that they've just been heavily delayed or something; otherwise, they'd both have to be lost/stolen and the odds of both going missing seem pretty low.

I have had two people send me packages the same way. My Grandma sent me a pillow that took about 32 days to get to me (the box was damaged and the PO had NO clue why it took that long to get to me since it was just a dented box, nothing major..and then I had an e-bay seller send me some bedding that took about two weeks. I would check your Post office if I were you. The package I got from the e-bay seller was supposed to be dropped off at my house but instead it was sitting at the Post office for me for whatever reason.

Parcel post can take forever. Used to ship with this method but it was so unreliable and took so long that people were filing disputes against us left and right.

Without delivery confirmation/insurance you don't have much hope of recovering the packages if they are "lost". As far as I know there is no such thing as an internal number they can use to track the packages. At this point though it has only been 23 days so I think there still is a good chance the packages will arrive. I would give it more time.

Glad to hear that people have actually gotten their parcel post packages after this much time. As for the internal tracking, Mike, they just recently started putting a bar-scan label on at least first class and priority packages now if you don't buy one (IDK about parcel post), but they don't give you the number. The lady at my post office said that they were more for "package counting" purposes than tracking, but I don't know why labels would be necessary for USPS to know how many packages they're shipping; you'd think they could just pull that info off the computers. I'll definitely check with my local PO to see if they have anything for me; if not, maybe I can try to get them to see if they can get the internal label numbers for the packages, assuming parcel post also has them.

Well, it looks like all I have to do is complain a little. Apparently they finally showed up today after 24 days.
