Question about eBay purchase that I need to send back

So, long story short. I need to ship back the package. The package was lost in the mail because the seller didn't put the address clear enough to read. He was supposed to file the insurance claim. I don't know if he did but the package ended up at my door. The seller already refunded me money. He wants me to ship it back to him now insured and with delivery confirmation. He was nothing but the pain in the ass ever since I bought this clarinet from him although he refunded me with no problems.

I don't want to go out of my way for him and I don't want to ship anything to him before he pays me for it. Is there a way that he sends me a prepaid shipping label and I just arrange the pick up?

What would be the best way to go about it? Can I just take it to the post office and say that there is an insurance case pending and they will take care about it for me?

If it was me I would just mail it back. I'm not sure at what point in the transaction they were being a "pain in the ass", but they did actual ship you the product, you have it, along with a full refund... I would just return it. You have feedback as a tool to try to additional reimburstment for return shipping. To answer your question they would do it from the USPS site, print a label and mail it to you (if you provided weight, deminsions, and your address)... or try to send it to you as a image file.

yeah tell em to send a UPS call tag and have ups come get it from your house.

The item was a clarinet for my daughter. I needed it fast. Well, at least two weeks fast before I needed to return the rental instrument. Seller stated that he will ship the instrument with priority mail. He shipped it the next day but with parcel post. Three weeks later I emailed him asking to go to the post office and file an insurance claim to find the parcel. He didn't go saying that he "beleaves" that it comes soon. I confronted him saying that he didn't use the service stated in the listing. He said that he personally put the clarinet in the flat rate box and gave it to the mail man to ship. Finally he returned the money and said that he will file the insurance claim. 4 weeks later the package came and what do we see? The instrument is in the standard white box with addresses on the both sides. Turned out that somebody used the same box to ship something back to him and he didn't bother to cover old address. Anyway, what pisses me off is that he was lying all this time. When I told him that the instrument came in regular box with parcel post he said that his pick up/package guy screwed him. What a dumbass!

I don't want to pay for the delivery myself because he wants me to insure it and I don't want him to bother me if they manage to loose it. I want to here about this seller ever again.
