WWYD? Ebay question

I have a new buyer who purchased something, didn't pay, so I sent invoice on 3rd day. Hear back from her that she "mistakenly" purchased item and wants to cancel. Now I could just cancel, but then I notice in her feedback another seller says 'she never paid, but was willing to cancel when asked'. Should I open a NPB case so she gets the strike or just cancel it and let it go?

This kind of crap is seriously annoying.

I would NPB it out of principle. They were a waste of your time. How do you "mistakenly" bid on something?

It was a BIN. Now that I think of it, doesn't it give you a second confirmation to commit to buy?

Yes, you have to confirm twice to buy. For BINs, why not consider requiring immediate payment?

well you COULD strike them. But if you do and they leave negative feedback for you, ebay will not remove it - but they will remove the strike for them. Not that ebay would remove it half the time if you do the mutual withdrawal. I would just do the mutual and move on.

Oh yeah, wasn't thinking about the fact that she could neg me. That's dumb. But good point.

Actually if the buyer expresses no intention of paying and you give them a strike eBay will remove any negative feedback they leave you. I just had one removed on Friday. But I was told by the eBay rep that if they do express any kind of intent to pay eBay will not remove the neg. If there is no communication or they say in a message they are not going to pay, you can get a neg removed! So open the case and strike away!!!

It will probably vary from rep to rep. The buyer says they made a mistake, ebay might not agree w/ the seller issuing a strike. Had it happen to me several times until I gave up on issuing strikes to buyers who wanted to cancel the transaction. Also honestly its kind of pointless in the end and may drive away some buyers. I have actually had buyers who I did a mutual with come back and buy stuff. Just had a guy last month. Purchased 1 item, turned out he did not want it. I did the mutual, he purchased 2 more items for 2x the price he was willing to pay for the 1st.
