Sold item on ebay and payment was sent to the wrong email

Hey guys, (sorry in advance for the long explanation)

So yesterday while AF was down I sold a item on ebay and the buyer did a immediate payment. It showed on ebay that it was paid for but it wasn't in my paypal account and I received no notification on my email that is linked to my paypal account and when I checked the email linked to my ebay account it had a email that said I had received payment and to claim it because I had not set up a paypal account with that email address. I was pretty confused as to how the payment was sent to the wrong email and checked my ebay account and it the paypal account was set to the right email. So I told the buyer to cancel the payment because it was still unclaimed and that I would send him a proper invoice through ebay and hopefully it would got through okay, which he did and then when he tried to pay for the invoice paypal said that it could not be completed and when he checked his card the money was not there anymore. wTF

does anyone know why this could have happened? and how should I go about this. All help and advice is very appreciated, TIA

send an invoice through paypal for an ebay item if possible

Thanks Mike, I just got off the phone with ebay and they told me it was because I had a different email for my ebay account and for my paypal account. So when the buyer goes to make a payment they have the option of which email to send it too, so I had to remove the email and then send a invoice through paypal.

How do you send a invoice for a ebay item on paypal, I have seen the option before but I don't see it anymore :s

^ well that seems ridiculous. When you go to sell an item you have the option to put your paypal e-mail. That should be the address they use. They shouldn't have another option ...

Yeah that's what I thought but its what they said

but I changed it so that my ebay email is now the same to avoid future problems if that is the case.

Now I'm facing the problem that for some reason the buyers money was withdrawn by paypal even though the payment was never claimed and he canceled it

I told him to contact paypal and see what is up with that. I'm not sure what else to do about that and we have to resolve that before we can continue with the purchase
