Minimum post count for mall usage?

I kinda think we should make a min post count for being able to use the mall to stop people like [mod edit - sn removed] from coming here just to sell stuff and then never actually posting anything useful.

why are you singling out [mod edit]? he joined here back in may i believe when a lot of us did! he is a great contributor at HF where a lot of us still post as well, and has expressed interest in posting here more. a lot of people recognize him here. i understand what you are saying, but just because you don't recognize him doesn't mean others don't. [mod edit] is a good guy, and i don't agree that you are jumping on his back and singling him out. IMO that gives AF a bad name.

Okay guys, let's not try to single out anyone who use our site primarily to sell in the Mall. Dan, I understand your concerns and agree that there should be some stricter guidelines for selling. It is something the mods and admins will discuss. Thanks

I didnt see who the name was before it was edited out, but if my guess is correct, than i just want tos ay that this person is not only knowledgeable but a great contributor to both fourms.

Woah guys! I wasn't trying to single out anyone, just making an example. It has happened before with other people, and I'm not on HF, so I don't know anything about people who post over there. Sorry if anyone thought i was personally attacking that person, but thats not what i was trying to do.

^^ No problem, Dan. I know you weren't trying to single anyone out. I just didn't want potential buyers to see that and think the seller is sketchy (he's not, actually. Like Josh said, very knowledgeable member of both forums). I know you had good intentions, so no worries

The only problem with a mimimum post count, then someone can just post a bunch of not so useful info to get their post count up, but I do know where your coming from.

It's about quality of posts, not quantity.

I agree with this idea too! Maybe instead of the post count we could be charged a one time fee? It wouldn't hurt us to be charged $5 or $10 to use the mall area and to help maintain the site or even donate some to charity or something...JMO

We are already discussing some new mall regulations, but i don't think post number is the way to go. All that will happen is stupid spam posts to get to the required number. I also do not want this site to be a pay site. Ever

how about donating to charity through paypal and proving that we donated by providing a screen shot? Somehow only people who have donated could have access.....making it a minimum donation of $1 ? Unicef accepts online donations!

How about the only way to sale is you need to be a member for say atleast 30 days before you can sale ? Just a thought

Right. I don't like the idea of a post count, and I don't think the mall should be moderated /too/ heavily, either, since it's one of the main attractions.

I see that new thread submissions are moderated, which is goo.

I'm new here, and just browsing but I thought I might as well contribute.
At other sites I've joined, you need 50 posts before you can get into certain sections of the site, and they have a strict no double posting & spam rule. It went over quite well, but I think that having a "30 day wait" or something would work better. If someone stays here for a month and posts during the time period, chances are they are here for honest reasons (I don't know how to word it), and that they are not here just to scam people and make some quick cash/whatever problems you've had with people before. That's just my 2 cents!
