Ok, back patch placement!! This is what the back of the Navy Patch that says Victoria Beckham on the back should look like. I have seen fakes where the white stitching is sloppy, uneven, crooked, and doesn't have the thicker portions at the edges. Some really bad fakes have this thicker look ALL the way 'round. Not right. We are talking thick here. Like they used yarn or something. Ugh. Again, on this picture, I reiterate the fact that the tag does not hit the very top of the waistband, but just barely under it. That is where it should be, and also note that the patch extends down, right onto that seam with the navy stitching. Some fakes have tags that are way too short and don't even get close to hitting that seam. Fake if it doesn't look like this.

Inside label. This is the same navy color as the outside patch. It should look like this, not turned the other way round, or backwards, or missing!! Especially if it is New With Tags. I guess this tag could be ripped out of an old really well-loved pair, but not likely!!
Also note, this is placed in the dead center of the back waistband, not off to one side, or elsewhere! The blue seam that is vertical that you see behind the navy tag I am holding is the butt seam. Dead center.

All R&Rs including crowns have the little R&R tag on the inside of the jeans, right by where the fly buttons, up on the waistband. One R is facing the right way, one is backwards. If that tag isn't there.... I wouldn't buy it. Here is also an example of the R&R rivets with the Rs on them, and the thickness of the waistband. There are a lot of fakes on ebay that have this rediculous high rise on the crowns, like Mom jeans. That isn't right either. Or a superthick waistband, like mom jeans.

Finally, here is a detailed crown pic so you can compare any crowns on ebay with something real. The stitching on real crowns is very tight and well packed. Not loose or faded. The crown should not be roughed up. Not all crowns have crystals, so I will take a close up one of a crown without for you to compare. A lot can be said for just the crowns. Most of the time fakes put them in the wrong place, too big, or too small. I have seen this really ugly pair where instead of dvb it said "VB" inside. Disgusting!

And my last two pics....
Here is a lovely Madrid Baby Blue Crown without crystals to compare non-crystalized crowns to... Note that instead of the crystals, there are dots stitched where the crystalized ones have crystals. Also note the tightly packed stitching. It isnt flimsy looking like some of the fakes can be.

Ok ladies, this is it! Unless I think of something else... which I probably will, but it's bed time for me
Whiskering on the front! Oh my goodness. I have had it with all the fakes. Some of them don't even try. I have seen some GOSH awful ones where the whiskering looks llike it was put on a barbeque grill! No joke! And then there are the fakes that have taken these upturned whiskers and flipped them upside down so the whiskers are like rainbow shapes on the front of the jeans. Ugh. Not pretty. So, here are what real ones look like and how they should look in general. None of them are exactly identical, but you get what I mean... this is the general look. Note they are NOT mirror images to a perfect T. They are unique. Also note, like Velvetine said, the nice "fluid" fading on the thighs. Not just thick nasty streaks like someone bleached 'em. Yah, I have seen that done too. Or how about those nasty fakes where the fading is so excessive on the thighs that the crotch area is a deep dark indigo and the thighs are a LOT lighter and it's not done evenly so it looks like you've just peed your pants since the crotch is dark?

Ah, I know what I missed! The Victoria Beckham Rs. They are London cut, which is a bootcut. These are rare, and faked. Faked VERY well. These are all over overstock and ebay and you'll be hard pressed to find them brand new. I won these on an ebay auction and regrettably I do not have the original pix I took anymore, but here are the auction pix. These are very rare and unusual jeans. They have nice thick yellow Rs on them, the wash is Magnesium-like with curved fading and lots of detail at the bottom. Hems are heavily whiskered. There is distressing on this jean, and the color is a medium blue, I forget the name of it. There are paint splatters on the jeans, on the hems, the back pockets, the thighs, some on hip, backs of legs, everywhere almost. The paint is white, but can be a tad bit bluish due to the wash bleeding during washing. They are stuck on very securely. There are rips on the legs, severely distressed, and are patched in the back, inside the jeans, so there is no hole. Navy thread is stitched across the rips haphazardly, to add to the vintage look. There is one on each leg. Typical whiskering. Typical outside and inside tags and rivets. Heavy distressing on the back pockets, acrosst the top and especially on the bottoms of the pockets. On the left pocket, only on the left, there is a rectangular "impression" that looks as if you'd carried a box or something back there and it stretched the jeans so that they faded around it. It is in the picture. The rectangle always leans to the left. I wish I'd saved the pics I took when I traded them, but here are the auction pix, and again, if you ever have doubts, ask questions, get a 2nd opinion, and get tag pix!

Can someone help with the pocket stitching? I noticed that on some crowns it is yellow and on others it is white! Is there a specific color that goes with the crown color? thanksssss!

I have a pair of the Madrid white crowns (retail-paid, b/c all EBay crowns are FAKE), and I notice that with Madrids, they usually try to use the same coloured thread all-around the pocket.

Ok, I have gotten some people that have asked me what a foam crown looks like. Here it is! Again, all the rules about crowns that I have pointed out above still apply. Centering, shape, back tag, etc.

Another curious thing I've noticed about most crowns is that the color thread that secures the top of the center back belt loop if often a different color than the bottom thread color. Or the color of the thread used to secure the other belt loops. In most crowns, the thread is white, very curious. I will be doing more research on this to see WHICH crowns don't follow this rule. So far, most do. Most real ones, that is.

Ok, fuschia crown lesson everyone! Who can tell me what is wrong with this crown? Well since this is a post, I will just tell you. Lots of things. Note that the crown seems centered, but it is too big!! There is not hardly any space between the top of the crown and the pocket edge. Also, not to mention the crappy wash and look at the hems! Those are nasty. Not R&R hems. Check out the uneven-ness of the fading and the wash. That isn't right either. These are def. fakes.

Here is another pic of the same pair. This just confirms the fake-ness of these jeans. Look at the "whiskering" on the front. It is sloppy, uneven and just plain bad. Look at the jeans' rightmost belt loop. Look how close it is to the button and compare that to the distance of the belt loop on the jeans' left belt loop. Any real pair would be perfectly proportioned. These are nasty fakes.

Thanks for all the info on these particular jeans, I didn't have any idea how to tell the real ones from the fakes until I saw these great tips because I have yet to get my first pair.

also, did the crowns ever come in fuschia on an authentic pair?
