I recently purchased a pair of R&R jeans from a reputable seller: NEW MENS ROCK & REPUBLIC HENLEE AVNG BOOTCUT JEAN 31 j - eBay (item 200441674344 end time Feb-24-10 18:30:08 PST)
I got the jeans they look as authentic as they can be. They have that "Authentic" cloth tab on the seam. The tab has "ROCK ROCK ROCK" and reversed "ROCK ROCK ROCK" pattern on the back below a thin shinny stitch. However, it doesn't have the usual rectangular style and wash paper tab. The seller mentioned it's called AVNG. So I just want to double check here. AVNG is not listed on the wash code.

That pair is a pair we advise people to stay away from. They look like they could be real but it's very uncertain. The tag is completely fake on them as well and there is no such wash called AVNG that we are aware of. That pair, even if it is real (but with fake tags), might be Empire System.

The AVNG's wash is actually different from EMSY. It's not as subtle as EMSY.
Now on that EMSY pair, it has style tag, size tag, but no Authenticity tag behind of the style tag. But everything on that pair tells me that it should be authentic. The washing detail, rivets, buttons, and cut are high quality, just like the ones I bought before.
So without that Authenticity tag, does that mean my Empire System is fake? I thought some older R&Rs didn't have authenticity tags. Quote:

| | ^ once again, you shouldn't post these questions here  no one is going to see them! but anyways, a lot of new pairs have been coming without the "authenticity" tag. You should post pics of the pair you have just to make sure they're authentic . We thought these were supposed to be Empire System but if you own both and do not think they look the same, then they might be just fake. The wash wasn't very good on them to begin with and the issue of the fake tags.
