Laura Mercier Mineral Powder SPF15

First off, the packaging is absolutely genius. You can use the screwtop lid to blend/mix the powder, and there is a twisty thing in the jar (think parmesan cheese) that you can use to close/open the holes that dispense the powder. So when you open the jar heaps of powder don't explode all over the place. Great for travel.

The color selection isn't that great right now, but it is increasing. I was matched in Real Sand, a yellow based color, which seems like one of the most popular and universal colors (according to the users on MUA).

The coverage is excellent, but as with all powders, you need a good primer and moisturizer for it to go on smoothly. I'm still working on that, my current primer just isn't cutting it anymore.

The powder is very, very finely milled and silky. It gives great coverage with a natural finish, and the pearl powder in it makes your face glow, not sparkle like BE does. I also like how it has SPF, that was a problem I had with Everyday Minerals. It photographs very well, my face is the closest to flawlessness with this on, and this has never happened with my other foundations.

Everyday Minerals made my tzone an oil slick in an hour, but this not so much. I produce just enough oil to make my face feel healthy, but I have to blot, as always.

The price is reasonable for a great mineral foundation - $35. And they give you loads! This is my first LM product, and I'm not disappointed. Reaching HG status.

Its not for me

I dont know but I bought one and on the box or what not it said it was waterproof...must be strong or sth because it gave me the worse clogs and white heads ever...worse than BE.

I broke out like never before. If you use a moisturizer thats got oil or very creamy/hydrating, you'll see a very "thick" cakey look. If your face was dry/matte prior to putting it on, then its very nice.

Great for those who use a very matte base/moisturizer.

I'm still debating what to do with my LM mineral powder....its too late to return it now.

missD, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. You probably broke out because of the bismuth oxychloride in both LM and BE. I have acne-prone skin and I don't know if I'm allergic/reactive to bismuth or not, but since using LM powder, I've gotten 2 zits... and a whitehead on my forehead. But it might just be hormonal/stress and I'm hoping it is, because I love this powder and I don't wanna go on another hunt for foundation.

stick w/ it for a while. it might just be stress for you.

i'm going to stick with tinted moisturizers w/ regular finishing powder. works the best for me.

goodluck with the LM!

Oh, the indignity. This stuff is the culprit behind my recent breakouts. It contains freaking bismuth, the hellish ZIT SEEDS that are in BE (why I skipped over this incriminating ingredient... I don't know). When I started using this, I had relatively clear skin, and as my skin became more crappy, it became harder to cover with this. I'm so sad.

Sorry to hear that! Bismuth is the devil for me too. You're not alone! I'm STUCK with my LM, I lost the receipt!

What I saw from using this was first few days "wow, my skin glows...coverage is so nice!"
next week or so its "hmm....looking crepey-and grey. where'd the glow go?"
next next week "shit, i look older, more clogged pores, and more zits! WTF"

Try diorskin pure light. I've been using it daily and it is SOOOO light and the coverage is sheer/medium. No weird skin reactions at all and most importantly, my pores are clear.

MissD, is the diorskin pure light a liquid foundation? I'd like to try it.

You should try to exchange it for a different LM product or even another m/u item.

If the box has a store sticker on it w/ the transaction barcode (depending where you bought your's), you can return/exchange it.

I wore it again today because I NEED coverage, lol my skin looks so bad w/o foundation. I wonder if it's possible to overcome the infamous bismuth allergy by continuing the wear it? Maybe the skin can become accustomed? I'm probably deluding myself.

I'm not too sure about liquid foundations... one time I tested Estee Lauder DoubleWear just on my chin and it broke out in clogged pores within the hour. Then again, it's a heavier foundation. And I think I need full/max coverage haha.
