Talking MAC Mineralized Skinfinish MSF in "Petticoat" and "So Ceylon"

Ok, where do I start?

These are the best beauty finds ever in the history of my entire life!
LOL yea i know, but seriously they are.

Petticoat:
Beautiful pink w/ beige & bronze undertones.
Very sheer and gives you a beautiful flush and glow.

I love Petticoat. They are $25 which is the same price as NARS blushes. Have excellent color payoff. You only need one sweep with your buffer brush and you get the best glow on your face.

I use it mainly as a blush and cheekbone highlighter. it makes my cheekbones pop and looks really naturally made-up.

I cannot stop raving about this stuff.
Petticoat has definitely made me fall in love with blushes or any kind of cheek stuff. Prior to this, I didn't even wear blush. but now I reallly can't live without this.

So ceylon:
OMG beautiful bronzer and contour.
Looks dark in the pan but when you buff it out on your skin, it's the best kind of bronzer out there.
Defines your cheekbones, gives you a healthy bronze copper sheer glow.

I love sheer stuff. I hate glitter or shimmer so sheer is the way to go for me.
It's almost metallic which is really flattering to any type of skin imo.

So in conclusion: i rate both of these items 10/5 stars! if i can do that

if you have some kind of doubt buying it, I say just go for it.
That's what i did and I fell in love.
I had doubts but seriously, this is the best cosmetic splurge I've ever had.

Haha I sound crazy but yea there you go.

These are both Limited Edition so I say you go get them now before you regret it.

[Everything stated on this thread is my opinion and I'm not trying to impose on you or anything so please don't get offended by my opinions thanx]

I actually had both of these on today

I LOooOOOOVE MAC's MSF's!!!

I love these.. and my other ones in my collection.. but my absolute holy grail is Stereo Rose.. I had to pay $65 on ebay to get my hands on those, but totally worth it!

Are these blushes? or are they akin to mineral veil? Im a MAC freak and I've seen these but I wasn't sure if they were worth it.

^they aren't really blushes or mineral veil.
it's powder and you can wear it however you like.
most people wear it as blush/bronzer depending on the color of the MSF
you can always use them for highlight if the color is light enough [lightscapade, soft & gentle, shimpaign, etc]

^ agree!

and feevahhh, they are SO worth the money. nothing gives me the glow that MSF's give me! i bought all 4 of the msf's that came out this past collection.. and people if you want to get petticoat and so ceylon - get them now!! they were limited edition before and they were just released this time as limited edition again too.. so if you don't want to pay $65 on ebay for them later, get them now!!

oh and best brush to use it is with MAC's 187 - best frikking brush ever.

^ lol no worries.. i have like practically no posts except for my fotds - and aww thanks you! livejournal has awesome people on there too but I stopped lurking there b/c most of the posts became selling posts rather than fotd's and such. and I just noticed you're from the bay area.. where?! and $22 for warmed IS a good deal! anything under retail for MAC is good!

you ladies sold me on them...how would I best apply them? So Ceylon as a contour and on bridge of nose and forehead and then petticoat on cheekbones?? What works best for you?

Also...I often use frost shadows (my fav ever is MAC Honeylust) would this be shimmer overkill to use the MSF's along with shimmer shadow and gloss? I usually use a matte foundation (studio fix - the heaviest coverage Mac makes...but I think I might go back to Select SPF 15 - Studio fix is way heavy even when applied with brush or sponge)...and studio fix powder.

ETA: Stereo Rose is GORGEOUS - le sigh...but BIN $95 on ebay, wut!?

hi feevah! I use so ceylon along my cheekbones and petticoat on the apples of my cheeks.. but that's when I want an extra pop (it looked really purddyy). Usually I just stick to just one color as cheek color though for everyday.

I wouldn't recommend so ceylon for the bridge of the nose though, it's kind of too dark for that. You would need a brighter highlight color for bridge of nose and center of forehead since you want these features to stand out and define your face more - I guess you could apply petticoat with a light hand for those areas if you don't have other highlighter colors. and remember that these MSF's can be used wet so if you slightly mist your brush before swirling on the MSF's you can get a more intense color pay off if you wanted.

I don't think it'll be overkill with shimmer if you used this with frost eyeshadows because msf's add more of a "glow" rather than full on shimmer (unless you get ones with lots of glitter along the veins). I always use one or two frost shadows in my looks and always add one of my msf's for a bit of glow and with lip gloss - and it doesn't look over shimmery. But if you were using ALL shimmery/frosty shadows - it could maybe look a little overdone.. but really it depends on how heavy of a hand you're using when applying these msfs.. that's why the 187 brush is practically necessary for msf application!

and yes.. stereo rose is extremely sought after and rare - thus the price.. I was lucky to get mine for 65.. it was worth every penny though, I love it so much! I'm praying that MAC will release stereo rose with one of their collections one day so I can stock up!

I just got Warmed in the mail .
Amazing. The shimmery veins on it was intimidating, I feared I would look like a disco ball. I'm NC42 and after a light dab on the blush and gentle swipe, I'm GLOWING!
I dig the natural look, this is a great natural bronzer.

no prob Alanna just glad I could be some help! No I'm not a makeup artist, I'm just really into makeup and spend a fortune on them unfortunately and love experimenting.. but I have friends who are makeup artists. You can use the 187 (which i'm so glad you got! You'll love it!!) for bronzing also. 187 can be used for everything and anything - liquid foundations, dusting powder on your face, blush, highlighting, bronzing, mineral makeup, etc etc. you name it! I have two and a 188 which is the mini version of 187.

Other brushes I would say to go for is the 168 (which is also really excellent for contouring due to the the angle of the brush and also really soft white goat hair) or the 182 which is pretty much one of the best brushes that MAC makes imo along with 187.

and I own pretty much almost all their eyeshadow brushes and yes, they totally rock

hope this helps!
