I bought my first pink Solia 2 years ago. I LOVED it! It did a fabulous job straightening my hair and held up nicely. Well, it died over the summer. I took it with me to Europe and the glue that holds the plates in melted. I used a converter and plug adapter - this iron just isn't meant to be used in other countries (duh ). When I got back from my trip, I decided to order another pink Solia since I was so happy with it. I noticed that the design had changed and was excited to see how it had been improved. In short, the newly designed Solia is a disappointment. There are tiny little grooves on all edges of the plates that catch hair and pull it out. Even when I was being super careful, it was hard to avoid snagging. Check out the pictures I took - the circled areas are the snagging culprits.

I would NOT recommend this iron anymore. Unless you're going for the missing patches of hair look...

I sent the iron back to Folica and ordered a Paul Brown Hawaii one instead. After I've had a chance to use that one a few more times, I'll write another review.

i completely agree!!! i have a Solia flat iron, but it's black with sky blue colored plates and even though the little grooves don't pull out my hair, it snags it and then makes it frizzy and damaged as i pull it out through straightening.
