Sweet! I'm glad you passed, Liz. . My SIL had to take iron; she had to take it with food or she'd feel ill. No biggie though!

Your pregnancy is flying by!

I took it last monday at 28 weeks 2 days. I felt like a pile of shit after that test, so much sugar!
Good luck with your cycle this month, I am glad you ended up being able to go again since you were not thinking you would!

I am glad you told me that, I would have just popped it in whenever. Your pregnancy is flying right ahead of mine too! I bet you are ready to give birth by now!

Sorry about your back pain; I so understand. My hips, back, pubic bone...name it, it hurts now. I hate to take anything during pregnancy, but I have been taking tylenol occasionally so I can function. Yes, I am ready to go; 37th week is considered full-term! I have a feeling I'll go a couple more weeks, but one never knows.

Oh yeah, iron will make you vomit on an empty stomach; it's best to take it with a full meal, not just a snack. That stuff is potent.

I am glad you passed. The 3 hour was no fun at all. I am officially full term today too. I really feel like a whale these days. Pretty uncomfortable. DH had to help put on my socks and one pair of shoes that fit this morning.

I know that feeling too. I have given up anything that is on the floor.

And make sure you keep yourself hydrated or at least get enough fiber because iron also makes you constipated.

Congrats on passing your GD test...did you fast before taking the test?

Yay, Liz!!! That's good news.
I'm taking a multi vitamin that's got everything in it including a bit of iron. It's specifically made for pregnancy and breast feeding.

9 more weeks to go for me! It has gone by so fast! I'm so not ready yet! I'm looking forward to my next ultrasound though, in 2 weeks, wasn't suppose to have another one but I had a bit of an incident and the doctor said I should get another one just in case.

^ There are some women, who even with a prenatal vitamin, need the extra iron in late pregnancy.

Good luck with your ultrasound; what happened?

9 weeks? I swear you guys are catching up with me!

About 2 weeks ago I got up at 5:30am to go to the toilet for a pee and noticed some pinkish on the toilet paper when I wiped. Went to the GP that day who checked me over and said everything was intact. My obstetrician also checked me over last week and said baby was fine and strong but booked me in for another ultrasound to make sure my placenta is all good.

I've been hearing all these people having premature births lately (even 10-15 weeks early!), I don't want to be one of them! Not even 2 weeks early, for selfish reasons, it's my birthday and I have a wedding to go to

Preterm births are becoming a big problem these days. I know of at least 5-6 of my friends alone who had preterm births. All of their babies (except one who was just born 10 days ago) are doing well. The most recent one is struggling; she stopped growing inside the womb.

I wish they could find a way to stop preterm births; it breaks my heart.

Sorry about the pink spotting; that would scare me to death! I'm glad it all checked out ok though; sometimes it's just a broken blood vessel on the cervix, but it's always best to be checked out.

Just a suggestion regarding the iron supplement . . . I'm anemic (not pregnant though) and I couldn't take the iron tablets from the pharmacy because they made me sick. I take a liquid iron supplement called "Floradix" (by Salus Haus, at health food stores). I can take it on an empty stomach and I have no stomach upset or issues. It has a better absorption percentage than the pills as well. I'm not sure if you can take it during pregnancy, but it could be worth looking into, since it's much easier on the digestive system.

Be sure to avoid consuming a lot of calcium (especially antacids) within a couple of hours on either side of taking your iron. The iron and calcium bind together and the iron doesn't get absorbed.

Congrats! The 3 hour test was no fun. I was anemic for both of my pregnancies. I had to take iron from week 28 and continue for 6 or so weeks after the baby, since I had a csection and lost more blood than natural delivery. I just got the all clear to stop taking my iron a week ago after having baby #2. It gave me the worst heartburn. Don't eat diary and take any antacids a few hours before/after, otherwise it doesn't absorb. It won't be long now. Brendan came before my scheduled c section by a few days! Get lots of rest. I haven't slept more than 4-5 hours in the last 7 weeks.

So yeah, the iron supplement I bought make me so sick to my stomach. I am going to look into getting a prescription supplement. I already take a prenatal vitamin that contains the higher amount of iron suggested for pregnant women so apparently I need more. I guess I can't bitch because everything has gone so smoothly, I had to have some sort of issue...

Missy I hope your ultrasound goes well. I'm sure you are fine. Your cervix can be very sensitive during pregnancy so I would guess that is where the little pink blood cam from. Keep us posted!

Iron is brutal.

I would ask your OB about that liquid form or iron; it may be less harsh to your poor stomach.
