I am such an idiot...procrastination...

I waited too long to take off my wedding band. Every pregnancy has been different; I have worn my rings throughout in a couple, and had to take them off in others. This is one of the others, especially since the weather is warming up.

I tried soaping it up and wiggling it, and I tried lotion too...but my knuckle is so swollen there was no chance. I want to get this ring off before I lose circulation...I prefer not to have it cut...suggestions?

I'm such a dork.

Jewelry, Gems, & Minerals: removing a TIGHT ring
Cool and Lubricate, or Floss Wrap (sounds painful)?

Good luck! Maybe all you need is the ice soak, if it's warm weather-related...

I would use thread to wrap around your finger really tight then lube it up & slip it off.

That's what I did to get my toe ring off. Worked like a charm.

I read that first link; I think I may have to resort to the dental floss.

My husband asked me why I waited so long. Yeah, I wanted to smack him.

keep it really wet with Windex and keep twisting and pulling!

I had a ring stuck on my finger so tight it turned purple. The only way I got it off was soaking in hot water. The hot water softens the metal. Give that a try...

I used to work in a jewelry store and had to get rings off people all the time. lol
What works best is (as Nola said) Windex, and let someone else do it and literally push the skin on your knuckles back (in the opposite direction of the ring). It seems to make people panic more if they are trying to get it off themself.

Good luck!

If you can stand it, ice you knuckle first before applying lubricant to the ring and surrounding area. Using a back and forth motion, remove the ring.

I had to take mine off yesterday, but was able to do it with soap and water. The warm weather is not helping with swelling.

I would try it first thing in the mornig. I would recommend soaking in some ice water for a bit (as cold as you can stand it) and then lube it up with something slippery.

I'm wondering too if these things work.

And without sarcasm: I can't wait to get pregnant

Not yet; it's been really humid here, and I'm swollen right now. This sucks.

I'll let you know when I finally get the darn thing off; aside from these lovely problems, it's pretty cool being pregnant.

I just tried Windex, soap and water, lotion AND the dental floss method; the silly ring got to the middle of my knuckle and stopped...no go. All I accomplished was making my finger swell...more.

I may have to get this ring cut off. It doesn't hurt now, but I KNOW my fingers will only swell more as my pregnancy continues. Why was I so stupid? Luckily, it's the band and not the engagement ring, but still...I assume they can repair it afterwards? This ring is usually somewhat loose on my finger.

Can you try to put your hand in cold water/ice? I know that's asking a lot LOL I can barely stand to mix up meatloaf with cold hamburger, but it might help. Are you due for any cooler weather any time soon? I know that my fingers are swollen, but I haven't had any real issues with my rings yet. Although Saturday, when it was in the 80s, I did have to take them off for the day b/c it was so darn hot.
