The Baby/Kid Accomplishment Thread

Let's recognize our little ones (or not-so-little ones) for their accomplishments. It can be in school, sports, or even if they're crawling, rolling, cooing...doesn't matter. We're proud mommies, and let's brag here.

-- My daughter just got her 5 year accomplishment trophy for dance. Oh, and as Shi knows, I am very proud that she was able to dance in the Russian Nutcracker with the Moscow Ballet Company this past December.

-- My son's last day of elementary school is tomorrow.

In all of his graduation pics, he is wearing something special. Badge of honor, so to say. In the last game of my son's soccer tournament, he was battling it out on defense and managed to get the ball away but also get him this:

Linda - what an awesome accomplishment for your LO!! Congrats to your son on graduating!

Well Ruby FINALLY can roll over from tummy to back! She has rolled over a couple times since she's been 4 months but nothing that was actually purposeful!

Wow Linda!! Congrats to your daughter and your son on his graduation!!

Not as much of an accomplishment since he can't play yet but my soon to be 5th grader wants to learn to play the trumpet for 5th grade band. I'm not musically inclined so I'm hopeful my husband can at least help teach him more about reading music beyond what he leaned this past year with his recorder.

And I'm proud that both boys got excellent marks on their report cards this year: all A's for my 10yo and all "1s" for my 7yo. Both of my boys are bookworms and I'm beyond tickled that my 7yo reads well beyond his grade level (and I think that excited his teacher this year too).

Sloane will be 9 months gestationally and she is pulling up on every thing and cruising around already. She started crawling at 6 and a half months and is attempting to climb up the stairs now.

I can only compare her to our son at that same age. He didn't crawl until 9 months and didn't pull himself up on furniture until almost a year.

She is just so tiny and looks like she shouldn't be doing these things yet

Thanks ladies. I'm glad he's not too upset about it. Although, it will suck big time since he likely won't be able to do many rides at Disney or go in ocean & pools since it's a plaster cast which can't get wet. Hoping that he can get switched to a waterproof one tomorrow (earlier than he should).

I'm glad Christine mentioned the report cards!

Both of my kids have received glowing reports cards (straight As and 1s) all year. I'm expecting the same for the year end -- if not, they'll be hell to pay! Only kidding. As long as they try their best. Ooh, I did find out that although my son is only 11, his reading is almost at the HS level and his range of vocabulary is actually at the HS level.

Oh, and I'm sure your son will pick up the instrument easily. Most do. I really thought my son couldn't possibly play the sax, at all, based on his recorder experience. But, he does and well enough that he made his school's Gold Band and auditioned to play in a special event and got it -- to play with the Boston Brass about a month ago! Just 2 songs, but heck, he got it!

Okay, I forgot to mention that my daughter was able to get into Level 4 USAG at 7 years old with only going to class once a week for about a year. But, she's not competing because it's too much work and stress IMO when she's got other things going on. But, I'm proud that she can if she wants to!

Off the soapbox now.

Thanks Linda!! He really wants to just do 'something' .. be it music or sports but thanks to my and my husband's work schedule and the fact we only have one working car, after school/weekend sports just won't work for us, but music we can do. LOL He can play the recorder pretty well and proved to us he has retained the ability to read the music, our only issue with him will be the commitment. We already told him he will need to practice A LOT and fortunately I am able to buy a used student's trumpet from a friend at work so I don't get sucked into renting from our local music store.

And NO reason to be 'ashamed' of bragging on your fabulous children!!!

I miss the milestones of the little ones! Especially the rolling over, cruising, etc. Every week is something new and fun with the wee ones.

My 2 1/2 year old is potty trained!
My 5 year old is growing like a weed!
My 14 year old got two awards in school this year, one for good grades and one for perfect attendance (she was 1 of only 5 in her whole middle school!), she also got her school learner permit and is now driving!!
She also made the highschool cheerleading and dance squad!! She has had quite a good year.

The perfect attendance one makes me laugh, because when I was in middle school and high school, my friends and I would always talk about how we could either skip school or get out early. And she talked about getting this award all year. I was very proud of her!!

Holy crap Nola!!!

Report cards came home today. Both got straight As, well some A- and some are A+, but I consider them straight As.

Yeah, I take all the credit. Nah, not really.

I know we have lots of wonderful AF kids! I also want to hear about Shi's!

I'm loving all the accomplishments!

Linda, I'm sorry to see your little dude's arm. He IS one tough cookie. Of course Little Sungy is talented and lovely, you should be proud.

Nola, Zachary is one daring little fella, and he'll keep you on your toes for sure.

Wanda, Sloane is incredible and a miracle. All of her AF aunties are very proud of her.

Now for mine
S got all A's and one B...she's in Accelerated Algebra and struggled; she brought it up from a C to a high B by studying hard and acing two tests. She's on the Junior National Honor Society, and on the Demo Team at taekwondo.

M got straight A's and was asked to join her older sister on the Demo Team. She just graduated from elementary school and gets to join Samreen at school too; they're two peas in a pod.

R is thrilled to be in honors math and language arts next year; she never gives herself enough credit, but she's doing well. She has the letter pinned up on our bulletin board.

A broke her first board at TKD testing last week...first try, no problem. the grin on her face was worth a million bucks.

Y memorized her first form outside of the Tiny Tiger program at TKD; she was so excited to accomplish that all by herself!! (Well, her instructors helped too).

E goes peepee on the potty all by herself now...if only we could catch her before the "other"...in due time.

Keep 'em coming! We can update when new stuff happens too...like a blog.
