Do you think my water will break with the second one too?

So with my first I believe I started very early labor on a Thursday morning. I awoke that Thursday morning to a little bit of bright red blood, contractions continued to get stronger throughout the day, but nothing really that intense. They just felt like strong BH, which I'd been having all day long for several weeks... Even though the Dr told me she thought I was in early labor I was very skeptical as I’d already been sent to the hospital a few weeks prior, only to be a false alarm. So late Thursday night the contractions got pretty intense, enough to wake me from sleep. Then at around 3am my water broke, contractions got STRONG. It wasn’t until my water broke that I actually considered myself to be “in labor”. So me and DH showered, got ready and went to the hospital early Friday morning, DS was born 2:57pm that afternoon. I’m really hoping that my water breaks this time too. It was nice to not have to guess when to go to the hospital, no false alarm, I knew I was going to the hospital to have my baby. So what do you think the chances are that my water will break with this one too? I have a feeling it’s one of those “each pregnancy/delivery is different” things, but still curious on what your thoughts/experiences are.

yes, you're right-- each pregnancy and delivery can be different. there's no way of knowing until it happens.
your water may break early on in labor with several more hours to go or it could break right before baby is born. you never know. it's not uncommon for contractions to feel stronger/more painful after your water breaks.

^ yep, my water never broke until baby's head or shoulders broke it on her way out. for me all 6 labors started the same, with very strong contractions.

my SIL has three children, and her water broke first with the first two. she was so convinced it had to break to be in labor that she sat around her house, contracting all night, waiting for her water to break. it finally broke, she got to the hospital and delivered within minutes. . so much for same patterns in labor.

once the water breaks contractions will likely feel stronger since the cushion is gone.

My water did not break with ANY of my three...and 2 of them were born past their due date.

My mom has had 8 children and her water did not break for only ONE of those... Mother Nature sure keeps you guessing, huh?

My water broke with my first, in the middle of the night. (Woke DH up, told him, he said "oh" and passed out He doesn't wake up easily at all) With my second I was having strong/close contractions the day before, but I was waiting for my water to break to go in. It never happened, so I went in to my check up the next morning, and found out that I was 7cm already. She tried a plastic needle thingie to break my water, and it didn't work, so she had to use a metal one! It still didn't want to break.

With Abram my water broke the day I was being induced while I was in the hospital. And man did those contractions mean business after that happened.

With Evan it is speculated that my water broke on Sunday, but I wasn't induced until Wednesday. Which caused Evan much distress and resulted in my having a C-Section.

Every pregnancy is different. I hope you get the delivery you want though!!!

I could totally picture myself doing this! Waiting around for my water to break and being much further than I realize! I'll be sure to pay attention to the timing of the contractions and get to the hospital when they say to (whatever it is, 5 min apart I think).

Oh I do hope that my water breaks this time around. However, and maybe I'm a weirdo, but I think the excitement of not knowing how/when labor will happen is kind of fun. I ask DH all the time, "How do you think it's going to happen?" "Where do you think we'll be?" "Do you think it will be day or night?" He really doesn't care though, he just wants to know when to get me to the hospital!

My water did not break with Mia until they broke it at the hospital. With Maci it broke on it's own about 30 seconds before she was born. But I had no problem knowing when to go to the hospital!! I just knew...
