Shoe Size and Pregnancy

This is a totally random question...I am not pregnant yet...but I have heard some people say their feet "grow" up to a full size and never return to their original shoe size?? Has this happened to anyone....??

I just bought a bunch of new Cole Haans and now I'm slightly worried....LOL.

Thanks for help with this random question

it happens to some partly due to swelling and partly due to the hormone that causes joints to loosen up in preparation for birth. the same hormone can also cause ligaments in feet to loosen, which causes bones to spread. it doesn't happen to everyone, but if it does, shoe size can go up half to a full size... and it's permanent.

my feet didn't change much, nothing really noticeable to me anyway.

it happens to some. the ligaments get looser everywhere, and for some the growth is permanent.

i went through six pregnancies actually hoping and praying my feet would go up a size...only to have them NOT.

i was a 4.5-5 before and i'm a 4.5-5 now.

there are no absolutes in pregnancy.

oh jinx cat.

My feet didn't change at all, thankfully. My mom's feet grew 1/2 size when she was preg with me.

My feet didn't change at all in my first pregnancy, but everyone's different! I was lucky not to have any swelling.

Thanks for all the replies...I guess everyone's body reacts differently to being pregs. Fingers crossed that when my day comes my feet remain the same. LOL. Thanks again

I had a bit of swelling -- nothing too major though, thank goodness my shoes still fit! I would've been HORRIFIED if my feet grew and I couldn't wear any of my shoes!! I know of a couple women that their feet grew... one went up a full size in both feet, the other one only 1 foot grew!!

i thought for sure mine would change; i put on an average of 50 pounds per pregnancy and retained enough water to float a small ship!

alas, the weight came off and so did my dreams of slightly larger feet.

oh well.

My feet swelled to about a 1/2 size larger toward the end of my pregnancy.
They went back to their normal size after he was born, but then again I think they might have shrunk. I used to wear a 7.5 but now I wear a 7...vanity shoe sizing?

I think it is vanity sizing! I used to be a solid 7 my whole life, but now I'm ordering 6.5 in most everything except Vans & Converse

Yeah, shoes AND socks are vanity sized now. It IS even more ridiculous than clothes, b/c it's impossible to find socks small enough now. I don't want to buy little girls barbie socks, thank you... My mom's feet are even smaller, and is sized out of womens shoes/socks as well (unless they're old pairs).

i have some shoes from waaaay back that are size 8, but they fit like a current 6.5.

oh, and i wanted to clarify that if your feet get bigger from swelling, it's not permanent.

Mine grew 1/2 size during my pregnancy and stayed like that for a year post-partum. My feet seem to have shrunk back down to its usual size 5.

My feet stayed the same size after both pregnancies. Still a 6-6.5. But I had horrible swelling at the end of my first pregnancy... I gained close to 50 pounds.

My husband would squeeze my feet because it felt so good and he would leave his finger inprints on my feet that lasted a good two minutes or so

My feet swelled some, not noticeably except that my shoes fit better. Since I'm a narrow, my medium shoes actually fit exactly right

The last month they grew a teeny bit. I am a 9.5, but I can size down to a 9 less often than before - so maybe 1/4 of a size?

Oy. Its so dumb. I thrift and a lot of the vintage shoes I've found that fit me are 9.5 or 10s. I used to wear an 8.5 and now I've been buying more 8s and some 7.5s

I guess I'm a wild card here Before my first pregnancy I was a 7-7.5, now after 3 kids and several years I'm a 8. I've always had a wide foot, but it did get "wider" after mulitple pregnancies
