Abdominal Pain

I was feeling great, almost back to normal... Then yesterday I started having abdominal pain. I called my doctor and was told that unless I started bleeding heavily, had a fever, or odor there was nothing wrong. I was told to take my 800mg ibuprophen every 8 hours and use a heating pad on m belly.

But seriously, why 5 days after delivery am I in more pain than an hour after delivery? The ibuprophen hasn't helped, it still hurts enough that I can't stand up straight. Has anyone else experienced this?

In other news, Maci is officially THE best baby ever. She hardly cries, sleeps almost all the time, and when she is awake she is so calm!

Are you constipated? This happened to me after having Evan....it was the iron in the prenatal vitamin. The pain was in the stomach and down my right leg.

Are you having any cramping?

Any urge to frequently urinate? And if so, with pain or burning?

I hope you feel better soon.

So wonderful that Maci is such a joy of a newborn!

UTI? Or it could be your uterus contracting back to normal. Does it esp hurt when you are bfing? I cried while I bf for a while because my post contractions were so bad.

I am so immature. After I had Sammy I remember telling Casey I was afraid to go. I was like what if my stomach bursts open.

UTI is why I asked about urinating.

But, it could be the uterus contracting back to normal as Jasmin mentioned.

If you had a catheter it could be a bladder infection.

i would rule out UTI first, but i strongly lean towards stronger afterpains. they get worse after every delivery, and often if you're doing a little too much activity they can come on strong like labor contractions. try slowing down, drinking lots of fluids...give your uterus a chance to heal; it will get better.

I don't have any symptoms of UTI. I feel a lot better today after resting. When I got up last night to change Maci I had a big gush of red blood, but none since. Maybe my body was just working on getting rid of that last bit. My tummy is less swollen today too. Now I just need to lose 15lbs, ugh I have nothing to wear! Stupid me threw out all the transition clothes from last time because I didn't plan to have any more babies!

yeah, i think it's the afterpains like i said. the fact you had more bleeding tells me you may have overdone it a little. i **might** be guilty of doing that myself.

Pretty sure I over did it. Was swinging my 29lb 2 year old around playing 3 days after giving birth. Probably not too smart
