My baby is rejecting me :(

I know I haven't been on here in a zillion years but you ladies are the best people to ask advice from when it comes to this kind of stuff.

My little guy is 6 months now and I started him on solids at 5 month because he showed a lot og interest. He's been doing great but now I find he doesn't want to breastfeed anymore. Everytime I try he always seems to be distracted and uninterested. I never had this happen before with my other two and it ended up being ME that decided to wean them...not the other way around.

Is this just a stage or should I be looking into supplementing with formula or something?

On another note...sorry for not being active and then just coming back here now when I need help! It seems rude and ignorant but having 3 kids and working it a lot harder than I thought!!! Especially since my little guy is getting up 2 or 3 times a night to feed still (this is the only time he wants me!!) I feel like a zombie!

Hi Erin, Welcome back! Do you make sure to breastfeed before solids? I think it is a pahse, Mia went through a phase when she couldn't be bothered but she got over it obviously since she nursed till she was 15 months. Hang in there, it should pass.

Have you tried going to a dark boring room and trying to nurse there or using a nursing cover? DD at that age was too distracted to nurse if there was something interesting for her to look at. She would only nurse at home laying down on our bed. Our nanny would bring her to my work during my lunch hour to nurse because she wasn't a big fan of the bottle, but it got to the point that she wouldn't do it due to the distractions. It did pass eventually.

Thanks for the welcome back I usually try to get a feeding in before food. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has gone through this! Thanks!

I haven't tried that!! I can't believe that I never thought of my little guy just being curious about the world around him. It makes sense that he feeds so much during the night time when it's dark and we are in bed. Thank you for shinning some obvious light on me!

sounds like a temporary nursing strike; it's common.
i agree with the advice above, nurse first, then solids...in a nice, boring, dark room.

glad you posted; check in more often.

Thanks Shi

I feel so much better and less stressed now. I'm sure that will help my situation out too!

I will definitely try to check in more often. I have 3 kids....I have NO idea how on Earth you do 6 though!
