Stroller help! Baby Jogger Summit XC v Joovy Zoom 360 anyone?

Has anyone tried the Baby Jogger Summit XC? I am curious in how well it performs. I have read some reviews and would love some feedback. I am not in an area where I can try it out.

I thought that I wanted a BOB Revolution, as they come highly recommended. Fortunately, we were able to try one out at a local boutique. I was so impressed with almost every aspect of the BOB my only issue was will Elijah's comfort. The seat back did not seem to support him very well as he was slouching pretty severely and this is not an issue in my lightweight stroller or my current jogger (which I so desperately want to get rid of!) The seat back seemed awfully flimsy and definitely lacked cushioning for the wee one. However, I must say that as far as MY comfort goes...the BOB was fantastic.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

I haven't tried that particular one, but I do have a baby jogger (city mini double), and absolutely love it. I've been using it for 1 1/2 years with no issues

Staycii - how is the back support and cushioning on the city mini? I'm just guessing it is probably fairly similar to that of the summit. Thanks!

Maybe this is obvious but did you try adjustung the seat back? Also have you seen the warm fuzzy insert?

It's pretty cushioned, the back support is good too, but we didn't get it until bubs was 1, so I never used it with a small baby. It is supposed to be good from newborn up, iirc. The seat backs can lean back into a full laying down position though, so that's awesome. He naps in it occasionally still, and he's 2 1/2

Yes, I did try adjusting it back but he wanted to sit up and was straining to do so. I tried it at varying angles and nothing seemed to keep him from slouching/straining to sit straight. I have seen the warm fuzzy online, but if I get the stroller I can't afford to get the warm fuzzy for a while...the stroller itself is a HUGE expense and we are down to a single income.

Sounds good. I'm glad to hear positives about Baby Jogger...I wish they sold them in this area because they are seriously cute! I love that the fold is one step and that they can stand alone...so wonderful.
OH! Do they lock when folded? I noticed that the BOB I tried didn't seem to have a locking mechanism...hoping that it does because I would be completely sold if it did. LOL

Thanks for the help ladies.

I read the "slouching" thing on a lot of reviews about the BOB. We've decided not to get one at all -- the slouching was one of the reasons. The other was the non-locking mechanism when folded and I finally decided that the stroller itself was too expensive and when I realized that NOTHING comes with it, it actually kind of pissed me off I think if you pay almost $400 for a stroller it should at least come with drink holders!!

Mine doesn't lock when it's folded But it doesn't open up much when I'm carrying it either. And you can completely customize them (at least the city mini has the options) with accessories (trays/drink holders/carseat holders).

Not at all! We're going with the Graco Tour Deluxe travel system. It's a nice sturdy/heavier stroller that has the infant seat and car base w/ it. We had the Graco Tour w/ DD 6 yrs ago (I have since sold that). It's nice that the carrier will fit Baby Girl until she's 32" and 30 lbs!

I decided not to get a "jogger stroller" until after the baby is born. For one... She'll be born in Nov. and the earliest I would/could be out jogging would be April/May. That should give me enough time to figure out if I really want to be a "jogger" anyway since I didn't do it before I got PG...

I found one for a great deal on a website and it's very reasonably priced at $225.

Keep us posted on what you decide. I may need some input in about 8 months!

I'm really leaning toward the Baby Jogger Summit XC, but like the BOB it doesn't come with very much. My other option which is 1/2 the price is the Joovy Zoom 360. It has some of the same features like shocks, large umbrella, ample storage space, sturdy back support and easy fold but it comes with the parent console. I'm so lost! I seriously hate making decisions LOL

Has anyone used/tried out a Joovy Zoom??

We have a Phil & Ted's Sport stroller which isn't technically a jogger, but it does have the option to lock the front wheel which would make it work for running. I haven't been motivated to get back into running so I can't comment on that. I also love that it can convert easily to a double with the doubles attachment. The only drawback is it's a little spendy. It has pretty good back support with a stiffish back panel and adjusts in several position down to completely flat for newborns. I also like that the handle adjusts so it's comfortable for a shorty like me and DH.

Ok, so I tried the Joovy Zoom 360 yesterday and while the back support and cushioning were up to par, and the canopy was sufficiently large, I wasn't crazy about the way it pushed and was not impressed with the shocks on it...they didn't seem to absorb even the slightest bumps...so, it looks as though I will be ordering a Baby Jogger so that I can test drive at home since aparently there are no locations within 100 miles of where I live to try it out.

Lauren, how long do you think the slouching is going to be a problem for?

I honestly don't know. But the fact that the BOB also has minimal support and no cushioning is another issue. When I go out for jogs and walks I'm usually gone for a while and I just want the bean to be as comfortable as possible. I'm going to be going up to DC soon to visit my sister and am hoping to try out the Baby Jogger stroller while I'm there. Hopefully it will help cement my decision. I am just not willing to plunk down so much money for something when I feel like something isn't quite right about it. I just don't spend $400 on something without being 100% sure of it...I don't have that kind of money just laying around. To me, this is a big decision and something that I am going to be living with and using for quite some time and I just really don't feel that the seat of the BOB was made very well...just seems flimsy to me. But, it DOES push like a dream. I want the both of us to be equally comfortable but if I have to choose between a great support and comfort for him with not so great pushing vs. so-so support and comfort for him and excellent push for me....I'd have to go with the one that doesn't push as well because ultimately I need him to be comfortable more than I need to have an easier time pushing a stroller.

I understand that you love your BOB and I'm really happy for you that you found something that you love. I'm just not so sure about it for us, that's all. I just need to be sure of what I'm getting and try out some other things. I like to test things out and do tons of research before making a decision...this is all just a portion of my process.

^^^ Good Luck stroller hunting Lauren! I couldn't agree with you more... I think/analyze the same way I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes I feel like I analyze too much...

My BOB came with cup holders & a small zippered compartment

My daughter has never had a problem with slouching in it, but we didn't buy it until she was a bit older. We used a Graco travel system when she was an infant. Good luck stroller shopping!

I saw one that comes with the cup holders and the zipper pouch it's the stroller strides one I think...and if I remember correctly it's only a little more than the other.

I'm definitely wanting to try out the Baby Jogger before making a decision. Jess, I am SO glad that I am not the only one! That makes me feel a little less cRaZy! LOL

I just asked because now I am noticing it. LOL! I was walking with Sammy and I was like wow, he does slouch. ha ha!

I didn't mean to sound pushy.

Have you thought about looking on craigslist? then you could try and buy. LOL!

No worries. I have looked at craigslist and there is absolutely nothing around me...in fact most people that I know around here that have kids have never heard of BOB, Baby Jogger or much other than the typical (Graco, Chicco, Britax, Maclaren, Jeep, etc) There is only one store with that even carries other brands and most people don't even bother with it because everything there is super expensive...hence, they carry BOB. LOL

The only Baby Jogger Summits that I have seen have been brand new...but they are new for 2010 so it's no wonder I can't find a used one. The Summit XC is the upgrade for Summit 360...I'm not 100% sure of the difference...but I can't even find a craigslist posting for a 360. Dunno. It seems as though I will just have to buy new whatever it is that I decide on.

I just want stroller perfection...is that so hard?

Finally did it and ordered a stroller. I decided that I couldn't wait to try the Summit XC so I bought it! Diapers.com has a 365 day return policy on unused items so I figure I can put it together and test drive it inside the house (much like I did with the other strollers) and maybe setup some "obstacles" to see how it handles. If I don't like it I'll send it back and get the BOB Revolution Stroller Strides (only $10 more than the regular one and comes with the parent console plus fitness bands...not that I would use the bands much but I could definitely use the console. Ok, so it feels good to have decided to do something rather than continue to hope that the Summit is the stroller dream I have been hoping for. Will update once I have the stroller which will hopefully be here tomorrow...if not...diapers.com will be getting a call from little ole me. LOL

Yay! Glad you have made a decision. 365 day return policy??!! That is like costco!

If it doesn't work out... look at this one:

Please update when you get the stroller. I am also trying to decide which jogging stroller to get. I had originally decided on the BOB Revolution but now I am not sure. I do have some time to think about it though. When my little boy gets here, it will be almost winter so I probably won't be using the stroller too much for several more months.
