Baby monitor recommendations please!

Hi there ladies! I'm thinking that we may be moving Elijah to his own room at the end of this month (I'm gonna go crazy) and I initially thought that since our home isn't all that big that I wouldn't need a monitor so I didn't bother to register for one...thus have none. Now that it may be coming time to move him into his own room my home seems humongous and I'm afraid that I won't hear him should he wake up during the night.

Anyway, please recommend your monitor and list pros and cons too please. I need all the help I can get, especially since there are about a million and one different choices out there. Also, I do have a budget and would prefer not to spend more than 150-200 on one. The less expensive, the better considering we are down to one income. Thank you!!

Also, he is about to outgrow the bassinet portion of the pack 'n play...would it be ok to remove the bassinet and have him sleep in the pack 'n play still? or should I just make the move to his room when that day comes?

So many questions...sorry! I'm totally not prepared for him to be out of my room.

I have had Chloe sleep in the lower portion of the pack n play on vacation and she sleeps fine, but she does sleep better in her crib.

As for a monitor, we bought a SUMMER BRAND monitor and viewer. We paid about $125 for it and I would recommend it. We used it sometimes but I would find I would not sleep because I would stare at her in her crib. With baby #2 we have it set up but have not used it.

Luca slept in the lower portion of the pack and play for almost a year, and he did fine.

I had a Safety 1st video monitor, and loved it.

I got it for about $150, and it was totally worth it. I loved it because Luca had reflux and I was terrified he would vomit and choke in his sleep, so it helped me a lot to actually see him. I also liked it for sleep training - I would leave him in his crib awake, and I liked to watch what de did and how long it took him to actually fall asleep, and to know when/if to go in and re-settle him.

I loved that it actually mounted on the crib, and did not have to be set up on a table somewhere.

No recommendations for the monitor. Right now I just use a cheapo safety first brand for when i put Fletch to bed first (he's still in our bedroom) But for the porta crib, I don't think moving him to the bottom portion is a big deal. Right now he doesn't know the difference between the porta and a Fletch.

with the girls though, I had them in their cribs first, so they seemed to know the difference and didn't sleep as well in their porta cribs.
Come by and check out my FB page, lots of fun stuff and custom orders too
