| | | Out of curiosity...(maternity jeans related) When you're preg, do you need to size up in maternity jeans? I had always heard for other maternity clothes (from friends) that you buy your normal pre-preg size...but not for maternity jeans?
I know, I think about random things...don't mind me. |

| | For me, i was able to wear my same size in maternity clothes until my 7th or 7 and half month. Then i exploded and i had to get everything 1 to 2 sizes bigger. i didn't wear premium denim at the time though.

I'm just planning/thinking...have babies on the brain. I'm normally a 31/32...do maternity jeans go past 32? |

| | Paige makes them up to a size 34 (I had 2 for sale in the mall). They were bigger than my 32's and would have allowed for growth I do not believe the other vendors go beyond 32, but you might be able to find out by checking the manf. website, babystyle.com and peainapod.com (3 most common mat. vendors). I got the 34 paiges from one of the sample sales, probably ruelala, maybe hautelook.

| | Taryn, I know I was a weird exception since I gained so much water weight, but I sized up four sizes in maternity jeans. I had Paige and sfam, and both were 27s. I outgrew the paiges first because they ran smaller and didn't stretch much...
My pairs were original maternity; ie, bot schtwepized...I didn't buy hers because her waistbands looked tight. The other reason I didn't buy hers is because original maternity jeans are cut differently and accommodate tge various growing areas better than regular jeans converted to maternity.
Most people size up one or two sizes though.
nothing wrong with inquiring ahead.
nothing wrong with buying from schtwep/time_of_my_life either. |

| | Taryn - I sized up 3 sizes and was able to wear them until the end. Comfort is key when being pregnant. Also I enjoyed being pregnant in the winter opposed to summer....something to think about woman. |

| | sounds like everyone is really different. Probably depends on where else they gain the baby weight. Shi is correct. I have a pair of SFAM size 26 that were converted into maternity and I also have a pair of SFAM in a size 25 that are original maternity. The 25's are definitely roomier and more comfortable. My pre-pregnancy size is 26 and that is what I am wearing. I am five and a half months along now.
Another thing to consider when you do need to start shopping for maternity clothes, is the waist band. I personally perferred the secret belly fit (the ones with the sheerier waist band that goes all the way up) because they don't fall down on me. Try getting a few cheap pairs in different waist band until you decide which one works best for you.
Any time soon you will be looking for these??? |

nothing wrong with buying from schtwep/time_of_my_life either. | Thank you, Shi!! I know I have no idea what I will be like when pregnant so I can't predict what size I will need. Like I said, I've had babies on the brain lately and was browsing eBay to see what was out there. I figured I'd ask over here to get opinions on sizing since I have no clue how maternity jeans fit...or what a pregnant body is like.
I doubt I will buy from schtwep because I don't think the altered jeans would fit me right. Quote:

I mean, I would imagine if they fit you at the end, they were way big when you were smaller.
Thanks for the advice about being pregnant in the winter vs. summer.

| | secret belly FTW!!
i was really picky about the belly panel, abd the best thing about the secret belly panel is that you could wear it all the way up (it's very lightweight and silky smooth, doesn't pinch at all) or you can fold it down on warmer days. i wore it both ways and would do it all over again...if i wasn't DONE!!
I gained my weight on the upper half; my legs didn't change a whole lot...but i had to size up so much to fit my big ol' belly! the jeans were loose in the thighs, but that's just my status quo.
going to a maternity store and putting those bellies on is laughable; I looked nothing like that and gained weight in places I didn't know I had. |

| | | I personally like the maternity jeans with the little waist band that goes under the belly. I couldn't stand having some thing cover my belly completely. With my last baby I was able to wear most of my non maternity jeans up until around 8 months and wore the my pre-prego size in maternity jeans. I was pretty sick the first trimester though and lost about 10 pounds so maybe that made a difference. |

| | ^ I was the exact opposite!! I carried SO LOW that I could not handle the just replaced waistband... I never understood the logic behind that, anyway.... the waistband is not the problem, I mean if you can get the damn jeans on and zipped all the way up, then what good is an extra 1.5" in stretch gonna do for you? I mean I guess if you carried your baby in your rib cage it would work...
I didn't have to wear maternity until about 5 months along and I am normally a tts 29, and before I got prego I was a tts 28. The 29s were unbearable but the 30s were perfect. Wasn't long til those were long gone, too, though! They were NYD A pockets. I have always wondered why these companies don't make their stretchiest/comfiest washes maternity jeans.. like Genevas.. I'd have KILLED to have some maternity geneva As. nyd is NOT comfy IMO... too rough and not stretchy enough. The last 2 months the only thing that would comfortably fit me were medium crappy jeans from motherhood maternity. So comfortable, though, it was worth wearing terrible jeans. Haha! Good luck finding some good stuff when you need it, though!

| | | I sized way up in maternity jeans. There's no way I could stay with my regular size. But, every woman if different. My sister was still wearing her normal jeans at 9 months. She just left them unbuttoned. She didn't have to buy maternity. |

| | I wore my regular jeans (rigid TR sammys) until about 6-7 months.. after that, it was knit pants for me. I lived in gaucho pants until my kiddo was a few months old. Of course, 6 months on was hotter than hell summer in Texas.. Like others have said, everyone is different.. so what you prefer fit wise/etc may be totally different. Luckily theres a lot to choose from!

| | I should have said that I only gained 11 lbs this time....not like the 9,000+ pounds I gained with Abram. Yes they were very very loose but I think they ran small to begin with. |

| | My last PG I didn't wear PD. I'm pretty sure I stayed the same pre-preg size though. This time around I'm having an issue... I'm staying in my regular jeans for as long as I can. I'm only about 17 weeks now and I can still do the rubberband trick. I just bought a Bella Band that I'm excited to try as well!
My issue is this... when I size up in non-maternity the waist is more comfy but the legs (thighs) start to get ridiculously big, to the point it looks goofy.
Does anyone know of fit/brand that runs smaller/smallish in the thighs and bigger in the waist? I tried on some Joes and PRPS today two sizes up and the PRPS fit ok in the thighs/waist but I wasn't crazy about the pocket placement. The Joes were ok in the waist but huge in the thighs and they were a slim fit too....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Shortround, you'll always get a goofy fit imo sizing up in regular jeans. I think maternity jeans are great. They make them to fit well. I remember how cute Shi was in her maternity 7FAM |

| | My first pg, I had no idea what PD was Last time, I wound up sizing up 2. I gained weight all over, so I really needed the extra room in the thighs and hips, as well as the belly. |
